The story is about children with a mom that has "supersecret mommy dot" powers. As they gradually find out throughout the story, all kids are born with a "mommy dot" on their foreheads that only moms can see. The colors on their mommy dot change to red if they are lying, yellow if they are trying to decide to tell the truth, and green if they are telling the truth. The kids try to hide their mommy dot but learn in the end that telling the truth is always the answer. This fantasy book provides a fun way for parents to teach their children the value in telling the truth. Cathryne Poling told this story to her son when he was little, and after that, he would put his hand over his forehead when he was not telling the truth. It was, of course, his demise but certainly worked out for her when she wasn't sure if he was being truthful. Cathryne L. Poling [email protected]

Being a stay-at-home mom isn't easy-just ask Brenna Barzenick. After owning a successful physical therapy practice, she sold it to stay at home with her two children. Her decision brought about an unexpected whirlwind in her role as a woman and mother. A compilation of Barzenick's articles from her monthly newspaper column "Tales from the Crib," Tsumommy! shares Barzenick's hilarious and poignant adventures as a full-time mommy to her son and daughter. From her three-year-old son's Spider-Man obsession and her daughter's yearly interrogation about Santa and his method of toy delivery to the joys of serving Easy Mac and chicken nuggets, Barzenick writes with wit, wisdom, and remarkable candor. Barzenick forever debunks the myth that being a stay-at-home mother isn't a "real" job and gives a voice to those harried, frustrated, noble, and loving mothers who have one of the hardest jobs in the world. So to all you moms out there, ignore that sink of dirty dishes, let the kids watch just one more cartoon, and treat yourself to the funny, unpredictable, and ultimately wonderful world of Tsumommy!

Totempole is Sanford Friedman’s radical coming-of-age novel, featuring Stephen Wolfe, a young Jewish boy growing up in New York City and its environs during the Depression and war years. In eight discrete chapters, which trace Stephen’s evolution from a two-year-old boy to a twenty-four-year-old man, Friedman describes with psychological acuity and great empathy Stephen’s intellectual, moral, and sexual maturation. Taught to abhor his body for the sake of his soul, Stephen finds salvation in the eventual unification of the two, the recognition that body and soul should not be partitioned but treated as one being, one complete man.
