Modern Personal Radio Systems

Modern Personal Radio Systems
Author: Raymond Charles Vincent Macario
Publisher: IET
Total Pages: 344
Release: 1996
Genre: Technology & Engineering
ISBN: 9780852968611

A text providing insight into the fundamantal problems and solutions found in modern personal communications: service requirements, coverage problems, fundamental interference, cellular architectures and signalling, network management, data and supplementary services, and satellite services. Also describes the approach of the GSM methodology to some of these problems, although the same principles apply to DCS 1800 and other technologies. This volume builds on and updates a 1991 IEE text, Personal and Mobile Radio Systems by the same editor. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Modern Digital Radio Communication Signals and Systems

Modern Digital Radio Communication Signals and Systems
Author: Sung-Moon Michael Yang
Publisher: Springer Nature
Total Pages: 760
Release: 2021-01-07
Genre: Technology & Engineering
ISBN: 3030577066

This book serves as an easily accessible reference for wireless digital communication systems. Topics are presented with simple but non-trivial examples and then elaborated with their variations and sophistications. The book includes numerous examples and exercises to illustrate key points. For this new edition, a set of problems at the end of each chapter is added, for a total of 298 problems. The book emphasizes both practical problem solving and a thorough understanding of fundamentals, aiming to realize the complementary relationship between practice and theory. Though the author emphasizes wireless radio channels, the fundamentals that are covered here are useful to different channels - digital subscriber line, coax, power lines, optical fibers, and even Gigabit serial connections. The material in chapters 5 (OFDM), 6 (Channel coding), 7 (Synchronization), and 8 (Transceivers) contains new and updated information, not explicitly available in typical textbooks, and useful in practice. For example, in chapter 5, all known orthogonal frequency division multiplex signals are derived from its digitized analog FDM counterparts. Thus, it is flexible to have different pulse shape for subcarriers, and it can be serial transmission as well as block transmission. Currently predominant cyclic prefix based OFDM is a block transmission using rectangular pulse in time domain. This flexibility may be useful in certain applications. Modern Power Station Practice

Modern Power Station Practice
Author: P.M. Reynolds
Publisher: Elsevier
Total Pages: 296
Release: 2013-10-22
Genre: Technology & Engineering
ISBN: 1483293378

This volume contains two additional features which enhance the value of Modern Power Station Practice as a whole: a cumulative subject index and a detailed list of tables of contents for the entire work. The cumulative index provides access to the vast body of information presented in the set, and also indicates at a glance the breadth and depth of the treatment through the use of inclusive page ranges for major topics. In order to allow the reader the greatest flexibility in using the index there are many cross-references. The entries themselves are qualified by up to two descriptive subheadings to allow the most detailed coverage possible of the subject matter. The reproduction of the tables of contents for each volume also provides an overview of the organisation of the individual volumes.

Radio Spectrum Management

Radio Spectrum Management
Author: David J. Withers
Publisher: IET
Total Pages: 376
Release: 1999
Genre: Technology & Engineering
ISBN: 9780852967706

Intended as a handbook for administrators and engineers, this book reviews the processes of interference management, regulation of competing service providers, and system standardization for the control and use of the radio spectrum. The second edition reflects changes in the field since 1991, such as the increased use of mobile radiotelephones, the introduction of low-orbit satellite systems, restructuring of fees, and government regulation. Satellite Communication Systems

Satellite Communication Systems
Author: B.G. Evans
Publisher: IET
Total Pages: 755
Release: 1999
Genre: Technology & Engineering
ISBN: 085296899X

Updates from unremarked dates material used in the Institute's vacation schools at Surrey University, which over the past 15 years have become the de-facto industry standard in satellite communications. The approach concentrates on the design and planning of systems, includes little theory, and just quotes equations rather than deriving them. New material has been added on the history and background of the field; the business aspects of satellite communications; and on new applications in mobile and personal communication systems, multimedia systems, military business and small satellites, navigation, and positioning. Graduate, undergraduate, and practicing engineers should benefit from the treatment. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Spread Spectrum in Mobile Communication

Spread Spectrum in Mobile Communication
Author: Olav Berg
Publisher: IET
Total Pages: 480
Release: 1998
Genre: Technology & Engineering
ISBN: 9780852969359

Presenting a technology that adapts radio communication to computational data information processing networks, first reviews the concepts of modern mobile communication and the user requirements and operational environment that influence the design of mobile systems. Then focuses on mobility issues for a decentralized network topology and the effects of spread spectrum modulation on radios used in packet-switched networks. Shows how connecting radio terminals using packet switching provides a highly flexible and efficient solution for mobile users. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Author: Jiří Jan
Publisher: IET
Total Pages: 430
Release: 2000
Genre: Technology & Engineering
ISBN: 9780852967607

In the belief that every engineer and scientist working with signals or data should have a knowledge of them, Jan (electrical engineering and computer science, Technical U. of Brno, Czech Republic) explains some of the theoretical concepts that underlie the methods now in common use to process and analyze signals and data. He examines such topics as classical digital filtering, averaging methods to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of repetitive signals, correlation and spectral analysis, methods to estimate and define unknown signals, non-linear processing and neural networks, and multidimensional signals and data. The Czech original Cislicova filtrace, analyza a resaurace signalu was published by Vutium Press, Brno, in 1997. c. Book News Inc.
