Excerpt from Minutes of the Forty-Third Annual Session of the Green River Baptist Association, Held With the White Oak Baptist Church, Polk County, N. C., September 29th to October 2nd, 1881 Elder P. H. Pernell - The first thing I did when I arrived in your town was to go to the post Office. Why? To hear from my family. The recorder is a letter every week from the great Bap tiet family of North Carolina. I quit taking the recorder a while once. I got cold and thought of quitting my calling. I did not know what was wrong. But I do now. The recorder was lacking. I do not propose to let my subscription run out again.
