Excerpt from Minutes of the 136th Annual Session of the Mountain District Primitive Baptist Association: Held With the Church at Bartons X Roads, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 31st, September 1st and 2nd, 1934 Deacon ellis F. Reeves, of Grayson Co., Va., was born to Bro. George Mack and Malinda Reeves May 5, 1860, and died Oct. 2, 1929, in his 7oth year of age. He was married to Sister Birdella Dickey Dec. 23, 1889. He leaves to mourn their loss his widow and three children - Mrs. R. C. Welborn and John Mac Reeves of Inde pendence, va and Fred Reeves of Akron, Ohio.' Brother Ellis joined the Primitive Baptist Church very early in life, and kept the faith by living it out in his everyday life in all his dealings with his fellowmen. To say his family, the church and community has lost a good husband, father and citizen does not fully give expression of him. We know he was a blessing of God to his dear family, a blessing to the church and a good example to the community as far as he was known. His home was a home to everybody, and especially to the ministers whom he faithfully helped on their way. He was a standard in the calling of life - his manner of living would call on all of us to live better than we do. Of a good Baptist family he married into a good Baptist family. And in the cloud of evidences. And the blessed assurance of hope, he has passed from all sorrow and pain into the realms of glory. May heaven's blessings abide with his beloved family.
