Excerpt from Minutes of the One Hundred Sixty Eighth Annual Session of the Original Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Association: Hosted by Crooked Creek Church, Union County, North Carolina, September 15, 16, 17, 2000 After a break for refreshments and fellowship, the association opened with prayer by Elder Charles Crapse and convened for business. Elder Larry Austin served as moderator, Brother W. T. Broadway served as clerk and Brother Ken Austin was called to serve as assistant clerk. Brother Austin stated that he had served as assistant clerk since 1977 and although he was not exhausted, he felt he should step aside for some younger brother to take that position.
