Excerpt from Minutes of the Common Council of the City of New York, Vol. 7 of 8: 1675-1776 The petition of the Minister Elders and Deacons of the Re formed protestant Dutch Church of the City of New York (preferred at the Last Common Council, Setting forth that they were Informed that this Board is in possession of a Certain pcice of Ground in the Commons Continguous to Mf Cuylers Sugar house which they Con ceive proper to be Converted into a Burying place, if they Could Obtain a Grant from this Corporation to them and their Successors for ever, for such a Reasonable Consideration as between the Petitioners and this Board should be agreed on.) was taken again into Consideration, and unanimously Agreed to By this Board that they would Grant unto the said petitioners the Aforesaid pcice of Ground. (containing twenty Eight Lotts ten of Which Front Northerly to Queen Street, Eight Others fronting Easterly Southerly upon Thomas Street, and ten Others fronting Westerly upon George Street some Larger some Smaller as Appears by a Survey made thereof By Francis Marschalk one of the City Surveyors, Refference being thereunto had may appear, that a Grant or Lease be made thereof to the s? Minister &c. With all Convenient Speed.
