NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The first official Minecraft novel! The author of World War Z tells the story of a hero—stranded in the world of Minecraft—who must unravel the secrets of a mysterious island in order to survive. “A rollicking adventure yarn; Robinson Crusoe for the digital age.”—NPR Washed up on a beach, the lone castaway looks around the shore. Where am I? Who am I? And why is everything made of blocks? But there isn’t much time to soak up the sun. It’s getting dark, and there’s a strange new world to explore! The top priority is finding food. The next is not becoming food. Because there are others out there on the island . . . like the horde of zombies that appears after nightfall. Crafting a way out of this mess is a challenge like no other. Who could build a home while running from exploding creepers, armed skeletons, and an unstoppable tide of hot lava? Especially with no help except for a few makeshift tools and sage advice from an unlikely friend: a cow. In this world, the rules don’t always make sense, but courage and creativity go a long way. There are forests to explore, hidden underground tunnels to loot, and undead mobs to defeat. Only then will the secrets of the island be revealed. There is no girl or boy gamer. A gamer is a gamer. I am Namya Joshi and have spent the last four years designing and delivering free of cost coding workshops for more than 10,000 teachers, young people, especially girls, in India and all over the world, as well as empowering other young people to run their own coding clubs. I have raised awareness about the social issues using game based learning with STEM. My parents are from the field of IT. And if I go by people’s perception it’s quite obvious I will pursue the same field as it is genetic. But my purpose has always been very clear that why do we see very less girls in this field? You will see boys dominating the field of computer sciences and field of IT. Dreams come true only when you believe in them, and meeting Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, a man with exceptional leadership and delivery skills, was one such dream. This lockdown gave me strength, and the skills I learned paved the way for me to start the #GirlsInStem club. This was a perfect example of my credo, #EachOneTeachTen. For my ongoing efforts of creating and empowering others, I was honoured with the Pradhan Mantri Rastriya Bal Puraskar, India's highest civilian award for an individual under the age of 18 years old. When we inspire girls to pursue careers in STEM, a glass ceiling will vanish. I was inspired by an incident. Who knows the next person out of you reading might be here ....have faith and belief and see magic happening in your life.

This guide shows youth librarians how to use the appeal of Minecraft—a game that many young learners are intensely passionate about—to create engaging library programs that encourage creativity and build STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning through library programs. Minecraft is more than "just a video game"; it's a powerful tool that librarians and other educators can use to engage students and spark legitimate learning experiences. This book shows you how to use Minecraft as a vehicle to promote learning and creativity, supplying specific, easy-to-replicate programs, ideas, and instructions for hands-on activities. By connecting the game to the maker movement and building off the game's popularity, you'll be able to use Minecraft to promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning. The book ties Minecraft to maker activities, learning in the library, three-dimensional printing, literary activities, crafting, and more. The activities in this book will also enable you to help children ages 8–14 to expand their key 21st-century skills, such as collaboration, trial and error, and discovery.
