Reader beware! This book and author may appear to be incongruities. But is it so strange that the same person should assume the role as both real estate investor and a public school teacher? To escape retirement on welfare and starting with nothing I describe how I was able to build equity of well over several million dollars while continuing to teach public school. Happily I was rewarded with the privilege of teaching children for 30 years and my classroom adventures are included within these pages. Then it is wrong to praise freedom in our free enterprise system while deploring the status of so many teachers whose classroom lives and ability to teach are ground out by the dictatorial policies of the educational bureaucracy? On the contrary I believe it is imperative that the truth be told for the good of us all. These are my memoirs.

Suppose someone told you that for just two cents on the national dollar we could have a country where everyone had health insurance, full-time workers earned a living wage, poor children had great teachers in fixed-up schools, and politicians no longer had to grovel to wealthy donors. And suppose that when we were done, government would still be smaller than it was when Ronald Reagan was president. If you're like most people, you'd probably think that for two cents on the dollar this sounds like an intriguing deal. But 2 percent of America's GDP is more than 200 billion a year--way beyond what politicians in Washington think is possible. Between our proper intuition that 2 percent is a small amount, and the Washington consensus that a 2 percent shift in priorities is beyond imagining, lies the opportunity to transform American politics. In this agenda-setting book, Matthew Miller challenges our country (and those who would lead it) to change the way we think about our public responsibilities before the baby boomers' retirement siphons all the money out of the system. The Two Percent Solution is a call to arms that no serious candidate, Republican or Democrat, can afford to ignore.

Create a winning portfolio by understanding the realities of modern investing In Enrich Your Future: The Keys to Successful Investing, prolific author and investor Larry Swedroe shines light on the foundation of modern investing, enabling readers to create winning portfolios through simple yet effective strategies. Through a combination of analogies, personal anecdotes, and empirical evidence from peer reviewed journals, the book clearly explains how to play the winner’s game, instead of simply following the crowd, speculating, and making brokers and fund families wealthy in the process. The book begins by first explaining how to put your portfolio on the right path, then how to keep a steady course during market uncertainty, when many investors fall victim to human nature, lose perspective, and make incorrect investment decisions based on fear and greed. In this book, readers will learn: How prices of securities are established and why it's so difficult to outperform on a risk-adjusted basis How to navigate various key decision points when designing your portfolio How to develop a conceptually sound investment strategy and reach your financial goals faster How playing the winner’s game in investing will improve the quality of your life as well. Revealing the true nature of the modern financial market and changing the way readers approach investing in general, Enrich Your Future: The Keys to Successful Investing is an essential guide for individual investors and financial advisors seeking to make more informed and prudent investment decisions.

I think of myself, sitting around a pub table or around a campfire, as a story teller informing people of how to be successful enjoying life and helping others any way possible if I can.. That is the way I would like to be remembered. Of pure Irish descent, Marton Murphy can trace his family in North America back to 1836 and follow their progression from the Atlantic to the Pacific, North to Alaska and South to the Mexican border. As a boy growing up in Freetown, PEI, one of the prettiest and friendliest piece of ground in the world, I absorbed all I could about the family's earliest heritage including my father's expertise in business and neighborliness and my mother's charitable good works as a nurse, class of 1921, who taught me how to live my life. I left home at the age of 18 and enjoyed a wide variety of jobs including farm chore boy, potato picker, cow hand, stooker, tobacco primer and fruit picker in the East. When arriving in the West I became a doodlebugger, oilfield roughneck, cat-skinner, construction worker, taxi driver while working my way up the corporate ladder before starting my own business in oil, land, cattle, engineering, contracting, environmental, manufacturing, distribution, transportation and travel while enjoying a life involved in church, community, charity, and back room politics while travelling the world for business and pleasure.
