Winner of a Scotsman Fringe First Award 2014 Framed by two violent deaths – the apparently inexplicable suicide of a young gay man, and the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby outside the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich in May 2013 – Men in the Cities is a compelling piece about harm and complicity, and about the forces that shape our relationships. Through fractured snapshots of seemingly disconnected lives, Men in the Cities presents a challenging but radically humane portrait of how we live now.

After reestablishing the connection between morality and the law, the author develops a coherent position on many of the most controversial issues of urban life: the political uses of the streets; verbal assaults and the defamation of racial groups; the legitimate restriction of public speech; segregation, busing, and the use of racial quotas; education, housing, and the problem of the ghetto"; prostitution, gambling, and the "regulation of vices." ABOUT THIS BOOK Every man has the moral right to know his origins! The texts from the Bible and from the apocryphal books used in this book have a personalized translation and belong to me. The translation of the biblical texts in this book are slightly different in some places from the biblical translations that were made after the Council of Laodicea in the year 363. The translations from the apocryphal books are roughly the same, but the translation of the texts in this book is mine. All biblical texts or from apocryphal books are enclosed between these symbols: « » and have the specification with the origin of the text at the end of each text in part enclosed between two braces: [ ...example....Book of Enoch....]. I used this style to create a linear story of the true "history of the worlds" for everyone to understand. The present book ignored the prohibitions of the great council of Laodicea in the year 363 in which many sacred books of great antiquity were banned and called apocrypha. These forbidden books are part of the history of humanity and it would have been impossible to write Kaleidoscope Lumior presenting only a partial history from which some of the most important passages in the history of the world would have been missing. The Kaleidoscope of Worlds also includes a part of the ancient history of the world that today is known only as a world that is supposed to have existed before the flood of Noah's time. The book presents not only that "supposed history" but also a history of other worlds that were involved in the creation of the human species, which is why the book is called the kaleidoscope of worlds.

The Anabasis is by far the fullest surviving account of Alexander's conquest of the Persian empire. It is primarily a military history, reflecting the content of Arrian's model, Xenophon's Anabasis; the work begins with Alexander's accession to the Macedonian throne in 336 BC, and has nothing to say about Alexander's early life (in contrast, say, to Plutarch's Life of Alexander). Nor does Arrian aim to provide a complete history of the Greek-speaking world during Alexander's reign. Arrian's chief sources in writing the Anabasis were the lost contemporary histories of the campaign by Ptolemy and Aristobulus and, for his later books, Nearchus. One of Arrian's main aims in writing his history seems to have been to correct the standard "Vulgate" narrative of Alexander's reign that was current in his own day, primarily associated with the lost writings of the historian Cleitarchus.

Starting in the nineteenth century the scholarly consensus has been to attribute the decline of the Spanish empire to structural rigidity, corrupt bureaucracy and repressive policies. In The Empire of the Cities, Aurelio Espinosa challenges these theories and offers groundbreaking insight into Spain’s political process and emphasizes early modern state formation. Spain’s empire should no longer be viewed simply as a symbol of royal absolutism and dominance. Rather it functioned as a collection of autonomous municipalities interconnected by a parliament that articulated domestic programs and foreign policy. Professor Espinosa also provides a more nuanced understanding of the monarchical government in revealing new insight into royal institutions and management procedures under Emperor Charles V. The Empire of the Cities offers a fascinating and penetrating look inside Spain’s political system that encouraged both expansionism and domestic stability.
