Excerpt from Memories of Childhood and Other Poems The following poems were nearly all written at the request of friends, and without any thought of presenting them to the public. Yielding to the solicitation of a number of my friends who have urged me to put them in book form I have decided to do so. In doing this I am well aware they are open to criticism.
