It has now become exceedingly scarce audibeing the only account of this important place in print, is consequently in considerable demand. For se veral years the advertiser has purposed to reprint it; but he has been hitherto with-held by the expectation that the Li terary and Antiquarian Society woul dgive to the world, a work, more worthy the title of an History of their native place. He has participated with the Public in the disap pointment of this hope; and therefore ofi'ers to their pa. Tronage, the following colle&ion of notices, chiefly from Mr Cant's book; which, barren and ill digested as they are, must, for the present, occupy the situation of a more worthy volume.
