Anne Fedele provides a detailed ethnography of alternative pilgrimages to Catholic shrines in contemporary France that are dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene or house black Madonna statues. Based on more than three years of fieldwork it describes the way in which pilgrims with a Christian background from Italy, Spain, Britain and the United States interpret Catholic figures, symbols and sites according to spiritual theories and practices derived from the transnational Neopagan movement.

New revised and expanded 2015 edition. ** Mary Magdalene in Provence, France ** Ralph Ellis follows the trail of mythology and reveals compelling circumstantial evidence that Mary Magdalene did travel to France, and that her presence there has left its mark on the history of the region. Ralph then presents further information suggesting that the legacy of Mary Magdalene in Provence was bequeathed upon the city of Orange in southern France - the city that was central to the Royal Dutch House of Orange, and thus central to the entire Reformation and Enlightenment movement. The book then goes on to explore the Orange Enlightenment and the Age of Reason, the twin religious reforms that created the modern rational and technical world that we live in today. But this era of rationality and reason is now threatened by forces of darkness that seek to extinguish the gains of the Enlightenment. Will the twin fundamentalist forces of Environmentalism and Islam take us back to the Dark Ages, and into a new era of fear, ignorance and oppression? In this section, Ralph Ellis tackles some ancient and modern taboos with his characteristic hard-hitting style. Each and every politically-correct stone is overturned, in this robust defence of the intellectual freedoms and scientific rationality that underpinned the Enlightenment Era. An addition to the 'King Jesus Trilogy'. Follows on from 'Cleopatra to Christ'. v11.9

Adoration is love, and eucharistic adoration is love of Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament. In the Gospels there are few people who understand love for Jesus as well as Mary Magdalene, which is the reason she is a prophetess of eucharistic love. This work is an extended meditation on the life of Saint Mary Magdalene, known as the "Apostle to the Apostles" because the Risen Christ appeared to her first and then sent her to announce the Resurrection to the apostles. Based on the biblical texts traditionally associated with Mary Magdalene, this book helps readers to learn from her inspiring example and to enter more deeply into adoration of Jesus Christ truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. In telling the story of Mary Magdalene's profound conversion after a life so steeped in sin that the Lord had to expel seven demons from her soul, this book shows how she is a shining witness to the transforming power of an encounter with Jesus Christ. Mary Magdalene is the perfect model for those who have experienced the redeeming love of Christ and who seek to deepen their devotion to him and to the Eucharist.

An in-depth investigation of the facts and mythology surrounding the historical Mary Magdalene • Reveals new details about the life of the beloved of Jesus • Illustrated with rare and unusual imagery depicting Mary’s central role in Christianity • By the author of the bestselling The Woman with the Alabaster Jar The controversy surrounding Mary Magdalene and her relationship to Jesus has gained widespread international interest since the publication of Dan Brown’s novel The Da Vinci Code, which specifically cites Margaret Starbird’s earlier works as a significant source. In Mary Magdalene, Bride in Exile Starbird examines the many faces of Mary Magdalene, from the historical woman who walked with Jesus in the villages of Judea to the mythic and symbolic Magdalene who is the archetype of the Sacred Feminine. Starbird reveals exciting new information about the woman who was the most intimate companion of Jesus and offers historical evidence that Mary was Jesus’ forgotten bride. Expanding on the discussion of medieval art and lore introduced in her bestselling book The Woman with the Alabaster Jar, Starbird sifts through the layers of misidentification under which the story of the Lost Bride of Christ has been buried to reveal the slandered woman and the “exiled” feminine principle. She establishes the identity of the historical female disciple who was the favored first witness of the Resurrection and provides an interpretation of Mary’s true role based on prophecy from the Hebrew scriptures and the testimony of the canonical gospels of Christianity. Balancing scholarly research with theological reflection, she takes readers deeper into the story and mythology of how Magdalene as the Bride embodies the soul’s own journey in its eternal quest for reunion with the Divine.

Who was Mary Magdalene? Was she a prostitute; a woman of high birth or a priestess of Isis? What was her relationship with Jesus? Were they partners, were they married, did they have children? What happened during and after the crucifixion? Did Jesus die on the cross or not? Did Mary Magdalene flee to France? Flee alone, with Jesus or with a group of her followers? Where did she land in France, where did she go and what did she do? On these and more questions Jaap Rameijer has one and sometimes more answers. What was her relationship with the Knights Templars and with the Cathars? Or for that matter the Holy Grail? Was she a reincarnation of the Mother Goddess? Did she carry the same energy as the Black Madonna's in France? During his years of research Jaap came up with several important findings. The book contains hundreds of beautiful photos of Mary Magdalene in various representations. And photos of Black Madonna's, churches, basilicas, caves, and wonderful sacred places. And of Mary Magdalene in love with Jesus.Special chapters have been written about Sacred Femininity, about France as the second Holy Land and about a pilgrimage along the most important places where Mary Magdalene is still 'present' and venerated. The book concludes with a message for the Christian churches.

An extensive examination of the religious anomalies and lost treasure of the Mary Magdalene Church in Rennes-le-Château • Looks at the connection between the Templars, Cathars, and other enigmatic groups in the history of this church and the surrounding area • Maintains that Mary Magdalene was the high priestess who anointed Jesus into his priesthood, in accordance with ancient religious tradition • Explores the role of the Sacred Feminine in early Christian Church history The small church of Rennes-le-Château, in a remote village in southern France, may well hold the key to the proof of Mary Magdalene’s marriage to Jesus and the bloodline they founded. In 1885 the village of Rennes-le-Château welcomed a new priest, Abbe Saunière, for its church dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene. Abbe Saunière ordered very strange restoration work for the church, and it is thought that he discovered something during this renovation that brought him to the attention of the power brokers of that time and made him a very rich man. Possible identifications of his discovery range from the gold pillaged from Delphi in Roman times; the treasure brought out of Jerusalem by the Templars, who had a strong presence in this area; and the missing Cathar treasure, spirited out of Montségur mere days before the fall of that fortress. Yet even more curious and compelling is this church’s ambiguous portrayal of Mary Magdalene. Markale explains that the unusual depictions of Mary in the church hint at an even more archaic role performed by Mary that could shake the very foundations of the Church if it were fully understood: that of the high priestess who anoints the priest king into his spiritual duties.
