Maps of Malaya and Borneo: Discovery, Statehood and Progress showcases the extensive map collections of His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Sultan of Selangor, and Richard Curtis. The combined collections contain more than 160 maps dating from the 1500s to after Malaysia's formation in 1963. The collections include early Portuguese, Dutch, French and English maps, nautical charts, maps of the interior, maps from atlases and encyclopaedias, maps showing economy, culture and communications and urban maps. Extensive captions highlight key features of the maps, provide insights into their creators and explain the context in which the maps were produced and used. The presentation of the collections is preceded by an authoritative text on the mapping of Malaya and Borneo over the last 1,800 years. This text explains the quest for accurate maps; illustrates how maps showcased the changing economic, cultural and political dynamics within Malaya and Borneo; and describes the evolution of mapping techniques as well as providing insights into the work of leading cartographers.

Presently, taxonomic information on the Chrysomelidae from Malaysia can only be retrieved from a number of sources, such as the Coleopterorum Catalogus, with it latest publication in 1973, and the scattered taxonomic publications found all over the world. Thus, the publication of this catalogue will be a single reference for the taxonomic information from the country. Malaysia comprises of the Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak, the Malaysian territory in Borneo. This catalogue will present a current taxonomic status of the Chrysomelidae, not only from Malaysia, but also from other parts of Borneo, which are under the sovereignty of Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia (Kalimantan). The catalogue of the Malaysian Chrysomelidae is a comprehensive one, both for Malaysia as well as Borneo. There are 1073 species and 215 genera belonging to 13 subfamilies listed in the catalogue. Out of this 1073 species, 635 and 621 are recorded from Borneo and Peninsular Malaysia, respectively. Each species is provided with scientific name, synonyms references and distributional data. The catalogues will be of use not only to specialists in taxonomy and faunistics of this diverse and economically important beetle group, but also to biogeographers, nature conservationists, quarantine officers, students, collectors and museum workers.
