How powerful of an effect does colorism have on twin brothers Malcolm and Luther King? They're from Compton, California where beating the odds is not an easy thing to do. Colorism is at the center of personal dysfunction and unbelievable self-hatred on a level you've not seen in a while! These people are real as can be, but express their stories in extraordinary ways. They go through similar yet vastly different experiences. Through colorism, they find two different paths based on the way they're perceived. The perceptions not based on individual merit, it's based on the skin tones of the brothers. Malcolm King is light-skinned while Luther King is dark-skinned. Each one gets treated a certain way, whether good or bad. Choices are made that influence their paths. One goes off to Harvard; the other one goes off to prison. Together they're a magnet subjected to the pain, judgment, favoritism, and the mirror is bright through comparison. Powerful truths, sacrifices, and high crimes will be revealed in this poignant coming of age drama. The consequences reach an all-time high. It could end very badly! Can the Brown Paper Bag Boys make it through the hurricane that is the colorism experiment? The Brown Paper Bag Boyz and the Colorism Experiment is a fantastic fictional commentary on today's times. This book is a fresh new look into the subject of colorism. This title will be a staple on the topic of colorism, even creating a standard in dialogue through these two exciting characters, Malcolm and Luther King. You'll find their humanity through the thick cloud of self-hatred weaved into the gripping entertaining yet heart-drenched bond the brothers have with significant life-changing consequences. What would you risk for the love of a brother? Everything! I dedicate this book to my mother and father Cassandra and Derrick. For the strength and perseverance, you've instilled in me.

William placates Philip by choosing different sons to be the heirs of Normandy and of England. His favourite son Richard, is to be the next King of the English.

With William ill and rarely in England, Regent Odo and the rest of the Norman ruling class keep to the South. Raynar is in Scotland visiting Margaret when Northumbrian rebels kill the Bishop of Durham. In revenge Odo's army Harrows the North, yet again.

While King Henry is busy securing and rebuilding the West Country after the Category 5 hurricane of August 10th, 1103, Queen Edith must rule the palace and the court of England. With the help of Raynar, Countess Lucy, and Countess Maud, she moves the court from Winchester to Westminster.

About the Author

Skye Smith is my pen name. My ancestors were miners and shepherds near Castleton in the Peaks District of Derbyshire. I have been told by some readers that this series reminds them of Bernard Cornwell’s historical novels, and have always been delighted by the comparison.

This is the tenth of my Hoodsman series of books, and you should read the first “Killing Kings” before you read this book. All of the books contain two timelines linked by characters and places. The “current” story is set in the era of King Henry I in the 1100’s, while the longer “flashback” story is set in the era of King William I after 1066.

I have self-published twelve “The Hoodsman” historical-adventure novels and one Companion reference book for the series:

Genre: Young Adult Fiction
ISBN: 1101994932

Winner of the Michael L. Printz Medal ★“King’s narrative concerns are racism, patriarchy, colonialism, white privilege, and the ingrained systems that perpetuate them. . . . [Dig] will speak profoundly to a generation of young people who are waking up to the societal sins of the past and working toward a more equitable future.”—Horn Book, starred review “I’ve never understood white people who can’t admit they’re white. I mean, white isn’t just a color. And maybe that’s the problem for them. White is a passport. It’s a ticket.” Five estranged cousins are lost in a maze of their family’s tangled secrets. Their grandparents, former potato farmers Gottfried and Marla Hemmings, managed to trade digging spuds for developing subdivisions and now they sit atop a million-dollar bank account—wealth they’ve refused to pass on to their adult children or their five teenage grandchildren. “Because we want them to thrive,” Marla always says. But for the Hemmings cousins, “thriving” feels a lot like slowly dying of a poison they started taking the moment they were born. As the rot beneath the surface of the Hemmings’ white suburban respectability destroys the family from within, the cousins find their ways back to one another, just in time to uncover the terrible cost of maintaining the family name. With her inimitable surrealism, award winner A.S. King exposes how a toxic culture of polite white supremacy tears a family apart and how one determined generation can dig its way out.

Genre: Comics & Graphic Novels
ISBN: 1606993100

This groundbreaking body of comics journalism collects for first time Anderson's entire biography of the renowned civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Over a decade in the making, the saga has been praised for its vivid recreation of one of the most tumultuous periods in U.S. history and for its accuracy in depicting the personal and public lives of King, from his birth to his assassination. King probes the life story of one of America's greatest public figures with an unflinchingly critical eye, casting King as an ambitious, dichotomous figure deserving of his place in history but not above moral sacrifice to get there. Anderson's expressionistic visual style is wrought with dramatic energy; panels evoke a painterly attention to detail but juxtapose with one another in such a way as to propel King's story with cinematic momentum. Anderson's successful use of the graphic novel to tell a major work of nonfiction has drawn favorable comparisons to Art Spiegelman's Maus: A Survivor's Tale, Joe Sacco's Palestine, and Osamu Tezuka's Adolph. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Arial; color: #424242}

Malcolm King, RN, MS, CS, worked as a psychiatric nurse for forty-four years, in twelve hospitals, three countries, and four US states, starting as a nursing assistant and eventually becoming a director of nursing. His book, Wonderful and Weird, is a compilation of the clinical case studies and administrative issues that were most influential in guiding him to a better understanding of the role of the psychiatric nurse and nursing administrator in providing the best possible care to their patients. The book reviews the positive and negative impacts on psychiatric nursing practice as the theoretical models of psychiatry moved from the psychosocial-psychodynamic model to the current biological-medical model and how those models themselves may be influenced by political trends. The particular issues for the nurse working with a forensic psychiatry population are discussed, focusing on the need for nurses to be aware of their professional and personal boundaries with this patient group. Wonderful and Weird will be of interest to those psychiatric nurses making decisions regarding the development of their own careers, and to both educators of psychiatric nurses and educators of general nursing students doing their dreaded psychiatric rotation. “ I am delighted ... that Malcolm King has put pen to paper....a thought-provoking book. “ -Fiona Geiger Winter 2019 edition of the "Nightingale Fellowship Journal" U.K. nursing publication
