You want my hands on you, Celia. Making you shiver, making you moan, making you scream. Admit it. Celia Villarreal had wanted those things with Ryland Brody, Bitterthorn’s golden boy—and wanted them badly enough to make a fool of herself one idiotic night months ago. Naughty children shouldn’t touch what they don’t own. Rejection always stings, but putting a move on Ry had devastating consequences. Now her regret burns as bright as her need—until Ry, as glorious as ever, makes her an offer that might finally be her ticket out of town. I’m not your enemy, darlin’. If you give me half a chance, you’ll see that I can be your hero. When working together leads to grinding all naked-like with the very cowboy who’s seen her at her worst, Celia is afraid she’s made a mistake. Until the truth comes out. This is who we are from now on. Say it. Feel it. Once Ry’s past motivations come to light, Celia must decide if she can give him another chance or turn her back on Bitterthorn—and the one man who’s always wanted her—for good. Poems by Divine Appointment are poems with purpose. They were written to inspire and to stir up your spirit. You will find some of these poems are quite long while others are very short. Nevertheless, each poem has a message that’s clear and get straight to the point leaving nothing to the imagination. These poems are power packed, and I hope every reader will experience the presence of God through reading these poems. Yes, Poems by Divine Appointment are mine, but they came from God’s creative mind. Now allow me to give you a little peek inside of the book with this poem. What’s In the Sea I’ve seen deep in the sea, Things we are about to see. There are a lot of things in the sea, But it’s nothing that I can’t see. Fishermen are on the sea Trying to catch what they can’t see. The birds of the air; the fish of the sea Will make do with what they see. Don’t be disturbed by what you see, It’s just the beginning of what it’s going to be. I’ve seen deep in the sea, Trouble stirring in the sea. Memphis, Tennessee Will soon be nothing to see. Things are stirring up in the sea, Things you are about to see. When I looked across the sea, I saw things I didn’t want to see. I’ve been fishing in the sea To catch what the fishermen couldn’t see. Who made the sea? The one you cannot see. I’ve seen deep in the sea, Things that’s about to be. Memphis, Tennessee Is about to be nothing to see.

The acclaimed author of Almost Doesn’t Count, The Ties that Bind, and Loose Ends now explores the bonds among four women and the secret confessions that could put their friendship at risk. Meet Lexie, Meshell, Tonya, and Tracee—single, successful, and fierce women who happen to be best friends. Devoted divas since college, they’ve bonded over a monthly ritual to regroup, hang out, and keep it real. With a little wine, a little drama, and a lot of laughs, they discuss their dreams, ambitions, betrayals, families, and without a doubt, the men in their lives that come and go. But this night out arrives with a twist. This time, it’s a night of mischievous sexual confessions. For straitlaced Lexie, it’s a revelation that forces her to reconsider her sheltered life, her inhibited past, and her desire to finally lose control. First comes her curious flirtation in a not-so-innocent chatroom. Then comes the dare for Lexie to take her curiosity—and her needs—one thrilling step further, for a personal deliverance that could threaten a longstanding friendship—or bring four women closer to understanding themselves, their men, and their secret passions than ever before. “[Electa Rome Parks has a] witty and engaging way with words.”—New York Times bestselling author Zane

Fate and a Fulbright grant allowed my world to collide with that of this collection’s author. Jo and I met through a friend of a friend while I was teaching English in a remote city on the island of Borneo. We became fast friends, and I was honored when she asked me if I would edit her poetry. When she told me about her goal to write 100 poems in her second language in the span of only a few months, I was blown away. As the poems steadily arrived in my inbox for revision, I had an opportunity to see the fruit of so much personal reflection I have come to associate with Jo. I found her candor, hope, heartbreak, love, and longing to be tangible when we spoke in person about everything and nothing. Reading her poetry, I had the pleasure of exploring those same emotions further through her writing. The basic, innate human cravings for love, acknowledgement, friendship, and communion are highlighted in Jo’s collection of poems, Sweet & Bitter Memory. In this compilation of thoughts, reflections, and dreams, we simultaneously explore Jo’s experience with and projections of love. She bares her wounds, unanswered questions, and disappointments on one page, while exposing her innocence, idealism, and deep belief in the power of romance on the next. These poems account, for the good, the bad, and the transcendental moments in love and relationships. Her work leaves us wondering where the true nature of love lies or if there is really such a thing. I am moved by the universality of love and the catholic yearning for connection and relationship. One of the most powerful aspects of this compilation of poetry is its potential reach. Publishing the book in English opens doors for Jo and her writing, as well as providing audiences around the world with the ability to examine the heart of a young Indonesian woman through her poetry. What we learn from Jo is a lesson not soon forgotten. Her hopes, dreams, and disappointments are unique yet deeply rooted in the human experience. As readers, we can tap into this duality and acknowledge the interconnection of people from seemingly disparate backgrounds. It has been a pleasure editing these poems and working with Jo to produce a literary work that can have a real impact on real lives. I look forward to seeing what is next professionally and personally for our author. I have a feeling there will be many more wonderful literary works in our future. Enjoy the wonderful opportunity this book presents – getting to know an ambitious, sweet, intelligent, humble human being.
