Machine Guarding Handbook is a must-have reading for safety engineers and managers in manufacturing and other industrial settings who need to incorporate an effective machine guarding safety program, meet OSHA requirements, and protect workers. It provides a basic overview of OSHA's requirements, making compliance easier to achieve, thus preventing the risk of worker injury or mutilation and reducing the occurrence of costly penalties and OSHA audits. This 106-page book explores and discusses the hazards of unguarded machines, common safeguarding methods, the safeguarding of machines and robots, the importance of guarding, the varying methods of machine guarding, training, inspection and maintenance, and safeguarding techniques. In addition, it provides both regulatory information and the material required to implement a viable machine guarding program. Special features include a sample lockout/tagout program, checklists, a machine-guarding case study, chapter summaries, and the complete OSHA Machine Guarding and Lockout/Tagout Standards.

The need for current and better quality training materials was cited by both certification program instructors and coordinators. In recognition of these shortcomings, the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded a major project with Penn State University, The Ohio State University, and the National Safety Council to develop a National Safe Tractor and Machinery Operation Program (NSTMOP). The result is the NSTMOP Student Manual. This manual, including the task sheets, is the primary curriculum resource developed and designed to be used in a variety of instructional settings. The task sheets are divided into 6 sections: introduction; safety basics; agricultural hazards; the tractor; connecting and using implements with the tractor; and material handling (skid steers, ATV, and utility vehicles). There are a total of 77 task sheets, 48 are identified as core topics. Also included are a skills and driving test layout map and evaluation forms.

Excerpts from the many unofficial “manuals” avidly bought by members of the British Home Guard desperate to prepare for invasion during World War II. How would you clear a stoppage on a Bren Gun while in action? What is the most effective way to clear a wood of enemy forces? How best could you counter a landing by enemy airborne forces in your area? What measure can you take to help ensure accurate rifle fire at night? What qualities should you look for when selecting a patrol commander? Just a few of the practical questions posed—and answered—in the selection of publications included in The Home Guard Training Pocket Manual. Numerous manuals and training pamphlets were privately published during World War II to supplement the slim official Home Guard manual produced by the War Office. Covering everything from patrolling, night fighting, drill and small arms proficiency to the legal powers of the Home Guard, these manuals were welcomed by the men of local Home Guard units keen to do everything possible to prepare for possible invasion—when they would be the first line of defense. This pocket manual collates a selection of material from these fascinating publications, often written by serving soldiers and reprinted multiple times due to demand.

Creating a safe workplace prevents injuries, reduces service interruptions, protects capital investment, and increases operations uptime. Based on NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements, The Electrical Safety Program Book provides the detailed blueprint you need to develop a program that maximizes electrical safety--and the related benefits it generates. This book, which converts OSHA regulations into an effective working plan, is arranged in a logical order to make you aware of the issues involved and to provide guidance and resources to resolve these issues. In addition to auditing and budgeting considerations, the Program Book covers administrative guidelines concerning setup basics for electrical safety programs, potential procedures and plans, training, and implementation techniques.
