Jacob Boehme’s Aurora (Morgen Röte im auffgang, 1612) exercised a vast open or underground influence on popular and mystical religion, poetry, and philosophy from Germany to England to Russia. This beautiful and highly original work containing elements of alchemical, esoteric, and anticlerical thought is a portal to the cultural, scientific, and theological currents on the eve of the Thirty Years' War. Its author heralded the new heliocentrism, opposed intolerance and religious conflict, and entertained an ecstatic vision of order reconciled with freedom. This first modern English translation places the translated text opposite an edition of the German manuscript from the author’s own hand. Also included is the brief, influential Fundamental Report (Gründlicher Bericht, 1620) in a critical edition and translation. An extensive commentary that cites documents of the time offers access to the sources of Boehme’s themes and concepts.

Fleenor's new novel, Sweet Water, is walking the tightrope between the genre of American Theological History and poignant short stories of broken people looking for meaning. It takes its title from a fictitious small town in Oregon, not far from the I-5 corridor. Somewhere out there, there is a serial killer. The diverse characters are strong men and women, enduring against great odds. Scarred, they still seethe with their frayed emotions. Sweet Water is a readable story of an archetypical American Church known as the Restoration Movement. This one American Church is divided and troubled. It reflects our polarized America. In this land of pragmatist, some atheist and agnostics find little use for Christianity, since they see it in conflict with their changing mores. In contrast, other Americans hold on desperately to an increasingly extreme fundamentalist faith. Is there a middle course? Can a truth-seeker find an authentic faith? Mr. Fleenor's multi-layered answer will rivet the readers' interest.

First published in 2002. Volume 3 of the Notes on the Notebooks of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, spanning from 1804 to 1819. The volume is in two parts, text and notes. During his adult life until his death in 1834, Coleridge made entries in more than sixty notebooks. Neither commonplace books nor diaries, but something of both, they contain notes on literary, theological, philosophical, scientific, social and psychological matters, plans for and fragments of works and many other items of great interest. Shortly after World War II, Kathleen Coburn, formerly of Victoria College in Toronto, rediscovered this great collection of unpublished manuscripts. With the support of the Coleridge estate, she embarked on a career of editing and publishing these volumes and was awarded with many honours for her work, including: a Leverhulme Award (1948), a Guggenheim Fellowship (1953), a Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada (1958), the Order of Canada (1974) and an honorary doctorate from her own university. Originally projected as a five volume set (each volume consisting of a book of text and a book of notes).

Don't fight the culture. Transform it. When Pastor "Choco" De Jes s was twelve years old, his Chicago neighborhood erupted in gang violence for three terrible days. On the third day, the mayor called in the National Guard to restore order. When the smoke cleared, only burned-out cars, broken store windows, and hatred remained. Choco felt vulnerable and helpless, and soon he turned to the only source of security, life, and purpose--the love of Jesus. Pastor Choco leads out of this deep well of experience. He knows what it's like to wonder if you'll live through the day, and he knows how it feels when someone cares enough to step in and provide care and hope. His church is known for showing compassion to people who are often overlooked--or worse, despised--in our culture: prostitutes, gangbangers, the homeless, and others who feel abandoned. And Pastor Choco's bold love for people has opened doors and allowed him into the highest offices in the land, including at the White House. Love is contagious. It breaks through defenses and destroys walls that divide us. Love is costly. It requires time, focus, and intention. Love is uncomfortable. It pushes you beyond your preconceived limitations and understanding. Love is hard. It's not convenient, and it's not always safe. But love is beautiful. Love is transformative. Love is the answer. So love them anyway. The message of this book will tap into your deepest desires, expose your hesitations, connect you more deeply with God's love, stimulate your creativity, and help you take bold steps to love the people around you--and your love will change lives. Love Them Anyway is designed for individual study, small-group interactions, and church-wide applications that reach every corner of a church's local community. This book will help you confront your prejudices, remove fences, and get the gospel to the marginalized.
