This is a book about how film encountered love in the course of its history. It is also a book about the philosophy of love. Since Plato, erotic love has been praised for leading the soul to knowledge. The vast tradition of poetry devoted to love has emphasized that love is a feeling. Love in Motion presents a new metaphysics and ontology of love as a reciprocal erotic relationship. The book argues that film has been particularly well suited for depicting love in this way, in virtue of its special narrative language. This is a language of expression that has developed in the course of film history. The book spans this history from early silent directors such as Joseph von Sternberg to contemporary filmmakers like Sophia Coppola. At the centre of this study is a comparison between Classical French and American love films of the forties and a series of modernist films by Luis Buñuel, François Truffaut and Wong Kar Wai.

Love, an emotion that stirs us all, possesses the ability to shape our lives in profound and subtle ways. It serves as a wellspring of inspiration, igniting dreams and propelling us to explore the realms of our imagination. Yet, simultaneously, it anchors us in the intricate tapestry of our experiences, embracing the richness and complexity they offer. Through my collection of poems, "Love in Motion: Poems of Dreams and Fjord Fantasies," I extend an invitation to delve into the myriad dimensions of this universal theme, as witnessed through my eyes as an accomplished poet. Embark on a poetic voyage through the landscapes of the heart, where the interplay of luminosity and shadow, elation and sorrow, hope and despair, intertwine to form an unadorned tapestry of raw emotions. From the dizzying heights of rapture to the abyss of desolation and grief, these verses capture the quintessence of love—its multifaceted nature, its complications, and its reciprocation. Drawing from a vast palette of vivid imagery and metaphor, I encourage you to immerse yourself in the splendor of nature, the marvels of the human spirit, and the potency of the imagination. Together, we shall traverse the themes of love, passion, and yearning. Whether you find solace in the mesmerizing cadence of fjords or soar amidst the clouds, carried by the wings of your dreams, "Love in Motion" promises an expedition that is both exhilarating and deeply gratifying. Therefore, I implore you to join me on this journey, allowing my poems to transport you through the realms of the heart—a sojourn that shall linger within you long after the final page has been turned.

"Maybe it didn't end there. Maybe it started with a kiss..." The only thing Ilan Nadav knows about relationships and marriage is that they ruin people. He's committed himself to the bachelor life, and he's never been happier-until his best friend had to go and fall in the sort of toe-curling, sonnet-writing kind of love. Witnessing that created a hunger in Ilan, and now all he can see is the people standing near him who deserved better than they got. And one of those people makes his heart beat a little bit harder and a little bit faster-but he's the last man in the world Ilan is allowed to want. After all, Fredric Pedalino is his best friend's dad. When Fredric comes to him for advice about dating men, Ilan is forced to re-write his own reality-and maybe his stance on love, because Fredric is the sort of man with the ability to sweep him off his feet. Even when he isn't trying. Ilan wants Fredric more than he's ever wanted anyone before, but he's not sure he's willing to take the risk. After all, loving that man might cost him everything.

Inside Hard Sell: Now a Major Motion Picture LOVE and OTHER DRUGS, you'll find yourself rooting for Reidy and shocked by the realities of the world that paid his salary. No matter how much is learned, if that learning remains in our heads, it is not enough. Unless learning touches our hearts, it's never going to bring us the wisdom we seek, the peace we desire, or the intimacy and connection for which we yearn. A new and more receptive way of knowing is needed, and is found in this course for the heart. "A Course of Love" was received by Mari Perron and given to be a "new" course in miracles. It is for the heart what "A Course in Miracles" is for the mind. For many, it is the next step in a journey already begun.
