This manual describes operational procedures for measuring longitudinal pavement profiles for the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Program using the International Cybernetics Corporation (ICC) road profiler, Face Company DipstickĀ®, and the rod and level. It also contains procedures for measuring transverse profiles of the pavement using the Face Company DipstickĀ®. Procedures for calibration of equipment, data collection, record keeping, and maintenance of equipment for each of these profiling devices are described in this manual. This manual also describes procedures to be followed in the office when processing the profile data that were collected in the field as well as guidelines for performing inter-regional comparison tests among the LTPP profilers.

The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.

This report from the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2), which is administered by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies, provides guidance on the design, fabrication, construction, and maintenance of precast concrete pavement (PCP) systems. It includes an assessment of the state of the practice for PCP technology as well as guidelines for pavement selection, the decision-making process, and model specifications for PCP systems.

The Long-Term Pavement Performance Information Management System (LTPP IMS) Data Users Reference Manual contains an overview of the LTPP program and the data available to researchers. LTPP is a 20-year study of pavements to improve design, rehabilitation, and maintenance practices. This document is intended to assist researchers in understanding the data that are currently available for General Pavement Studies Experiments and how to obtain it. The General Pavement Studies are a group of asphalt concrete (AC) and portland cement concrete (PCC) experiments using in-service pavements. In addition to materials test results for the pavement sections, data on pavement history, maintenance, and rehabilitation are stored in the IMS. Information on distress, transverse profile, cross profile, pavement deflection, and traffic is collected on a routine basis and added to the data base regularly. The manual includes information on the quality control process.
