Excerpt from Little Talks on School Management I am asked to write a fore-word for this little volume, and I scarcely know what to say. It seems to me to be a bootless task; for, in the guilty knowledge that I seldom read a "Preface," I imagine that the majority of readers are like myself and are more anxious to know what the author has to say in the intentional part of the work that is the real occasion for the publication. There is an object in the pages which follow, and you are at liberty to drop this and turn to them at once. In them I have striven to give briefly a history of the things that helped me in my work as a primary teacher, and I have striven to make the "talks" practical and also inspirational.
