In this anthology, philosophers and anthropologists examine a concept too often taken for granted: that of the concept itself. Concepts are often thought of as mere tools of analysis, or as straightforwardly equivalent to signs or symbols. But the contributors in this volume challenge these conventional frameworks, turning instead to the ways concepts are intrinsically embedded in our forms of life and how they constitute the very substrate of our conscious existence. Attending to our ordinary lives with concepts requires not an ascent from the rough ground of reality into the skies of theory, but rather acceptance of the fact that thinking is congenital to living with and through concepts. The volume offers a critical and timely intervention into both contemporary philosophy and anthropological theory by unsettling the distinction between thought and reality that continues to be too often assumed. showing how the supposed need to grasp reality may be replaced by an acknowledgement that we are in its grip. Puett, and Lotte Buch Segal.

The full title of this book is Strategic Concepts-That Clarify A Focused Life, A Self-Study Manual Defining and Applying Focused Life Concepts to Leaders Today. This manual was originally written in 1995 by Dr. J. Robert Clinton and used in classes at Fuller Seminary. After ten years of use the book has been revised to show the latest findings gathered from these ten years of studies of leaders' lives. The manual gives results of research on focused lives: life purpose, effective methodologies, major role and ultimate contribution. It defines a Personal Life Mandate-a two to three page document with narrative paragraphs giving the findings of a focused life. The end result is a major tool for decision making and help in movement toward a focused life. The concepts will be used by leaders for their own lives and for others as they mentor them toward completion of an Ephesians 2:10 life.

* Understanding the basic concepts is the foundation for stable growth/success. * Just imagine your life without knowledge of the basic concepts of life! * Life Concepts is focused on the basic concepts of life that we overlook or are unaware about but are required for happiness/success. * The goal is to derive easy-to-understand concepts (to provide direction/guidance) after gaining an in-depth knowledge of human nature, material and spiritual world, society's beliefs, laws of nature, and science of God. * This also explains the Enlightenment journey of Author to find the ultimate truth/knowledge, while living a normal life within the society. Disclosure: All concepts shared are generic, applicable to every person and practical to implement in life. Author Vishwas Doneria himself has already implemented these concepts in his life (along with helping many people) before he decided to share these concepts with everyone. Irrespective of your present beliefs/conditions: * The goal is to make the individual self-sufficient (i.e., self-help) to understand the concepts of life. * If you believe in God, it's a journey to restore your natural state from the material world to the highest level of the spiritual world (i.e., Liberation). * In general (even if you don't believe in God), it's the journey of experiences/concepts to understand the basics about happiness/success (up to its highest/pure level). * This is also helpful anytime you decide to create your fresh beliefs altogether. * Life Concepts is also helpful to overcome any existing belief/thought that you want to be free for a long time. Author's Belief: Knowledge/Concepts can't be true unless it's applicable forever to every person.

This book traces the history of life-concepts, with a focus on the vegetable souls of Aristotle, investigating how they were interpreted and eventually replaced by evolutionary biology. Philosophers have long struggled with the relationship between physics, physiology, and psychology, asking questions of organization, purpose, and agency. For two millennia, the vegetable soul, nutrition, and reproduction were commonly used to understand basic life and connect it to “higher” animal and vegetable life. Cartesian dualism and mechanism destroyed this bridge and left biology without an organizing principle until Darwin. Modern biology parallels Aristotelian vegetable life-concepts, but remains incompatible with the animal, rational, subjective, and spiritual life-concepts that developed through the centuries. Recent discoveries call for a second look at Aristotle’s ideas – though not their medieval descendants. Life remains an active, chemical process whose cause, identity, and purpose is self-perpetuation.
