These are a selection of poems I chose to print in this book in dedication to all cancer victims and to all the families who have felt the hurt of helplessness at the realization of a fate unplanned and unfair that pulls our very spirit downward. The poems were written by Barron Pilgrim with these thoughts in mind and with the hope for a cure. The families and friends that have suffered in past times while hoping for the best and losing a dream in the end. From breast cancer to many other varieties, we fear we are not making progress fast enough. We hope you enjoy these scattered thoughts of faith and love. All proceeds will be donated to cancer research. Thank you for helping in this effort by passing on this book to a friend and donating to the cancer foundations and charities to defeat this enemy.

Why are we obsessed with calculating our selections? The author argues that competitive trade nurtures calculative reason, which provides the ground for most discourses on economy. But market descriptions of economy are incomplete. Drawing on a range of materials from small ethnographic contexts to global financial markets, the author shows that economy is dialectically made up of two value realms, termed mutuality and impersonal trade. One or the other may be dominant; however, market reason usually cascades into and debases the mutuality on which it depends. Using this cross-cultural model, the author explores mystifications of economic life, and explains how capital and derivatives can control an economy. The book offers a different conception of economic welfare, development, and freedom; it presents an approach for dealing with environmental devastation, and explains the growing inequalities of wealth within and between nations.

In 1969 after 20 years living in New York City, Engineer, Photographer & Educator William Henry Mackey, Jr. returned to the rural Georgia backwoods where he had been raised. During the 20 years since he had left, the South had undergone drastic changes, from the Civil Rights Era to the technological advances in farming techniques, yet at the same time it remained the same simple place where he had grown up. Mackey proceeded to photograph and interview friends, family and other residents of the area in an effort to document their history and recollections of an era that was fast fading under the onslaught of 'progress'. The result is a fascinating look into the legacy of rural Blacks in coastal Georgia and the political, technological and social changes they underwent during the century since the Emancipation Proclamation.

She chronicles the journey through the narrative of her consciousness, a stage of her development toward the creative potential she’s been gifted. A Peace of Me offers an honest reflection of both the light and dark aspects of Halls, an attempt to align and give meaning to all that it is to be human.
