As a result of a fact finding visit in early July with a number of meetings with the Lao MoE, the Australian Embassy and international agencies, such as AusAID, JICA, UNICEF, WB, ADB, WFP and Embassy of Japan, Australian Education International (AEI) Vietnam presents this paper in four parts: a brief introduction to Laos, its geography, population, administrative structure, and socio-economic development; summary of the Laotian education system; statistics on Laotian students in Australia, and information on the size and shape of the market for overseas recruitment there; conclusions and recommendations, on the basis of the mixed ODA and other opportunities in Laos.
