In Vergil's Empire, Eve Adler offers an exciting new interpretation of the political thought of Vergil's Aeneid. Adler argues that in this epic poem, Vergil presents the theoretical foundations of a new political order, one that resolves the conflict between scientific enlightenment and ancestral religion that permeated the ancient world. The work concentrates on Vergil's response to the physics, psychology, and political implications of Lucretius' Epicurean doctrine expressed in De Rerum Natura. Proceeding by a close analysis of the Aeneid, Adler examines Vergil's critique of Carthage as a model of universal enlightenment, his positive doctrine of Rome as a model of universal religion, and his criticism of the heroism of Achilles, Odysseus, and Epicurus in favor of the heroism of Aeneas. Beautifully written and clearly argued, Vergil's Empire will be of great value to all interested in the classical world.

The church in Africa is thriving, both numerically and in its boldness and fervour. Yet the challenge of African folk Christianity – a Christianity shaped more by traditional beliefs than the Bible – continues to loom large, and there remains an acute need for life and faith to be biblically informed. In this introduction to biblical theology, Prof. Peter Nyende draws from nearly two decades of experience teaching the next generation of African church leaders. Maintaining the vital importance of a holistic understanding of Scripture and its unified nature, he presents the central story of both Old and New Testaments as the restoration of God’s dwelling and kingdom in the world. He traces this narrative through its many stages of development — creation and fall, God’s covenants with Israel, exile — to its ultimate fulfilment in Jesus, the church and the new Jerusalem. Though written with pastors and theological students in mind, this book is accessible to any who desire to increase their biblical literacy and partner more fully with the work of God and his kingdom.

I was going through some old files and I came up with some stuff I hadn't published. So I threw it all together and made something out of it. If nothing else it should be interesting as there are some off the wall topics included, as well as some of my attempts at poetry. But if you look at the Table of Contents you might find something interesting. For instance "Was America Founded As a Christian Nation"? Or the history of Babylon or the history of the Nephilim? How about "God and Science"? How about the paganism attached to the Roman Church, who ruled Rome for 1000 years? There are some more familiar topics, always involved with Walking with God In the spirit. Also "Will There Ever Be world Peace" and the "Role of Faith In Politics." I've even included a peace on "Christian Astrology" and "Biblical Numerology." So here's hoping you enjoy it and learn a thing or two.

Prince Alexander has just turned twenty, instigating crucial events in his life and the Kingdom of Aylon. Under instructions from his father, King Xavion, Alexander’s first order of business is to choose a young lady with the birthright of Aylon and honor her in making her his wife and eventual queen. Already overwhelmed with his royal duties, Alexander approaches the next chapter of his life without any idea of the surprises that lie ahead for him. When his father prods him to treat a visiting princess as his personal guest during her extended stay in Aylon before she returns to her fiancé in Darnell, Alexander reluctantly agrees—until he feels an almost instantaneous chemistry with Arayna that soon leads to forbidden romance. After Alexander discovers his purpose is much deeper than taking the throne, he and Arayna begin an emotional and strategic battle to live life, rather than allowing life to live them. But as Alexander breaks the conventions of his position and era, he puts everything at risk in order to pursue his dreams. In this historical romance, a prince embarks on a touching, coming-of-age journey where he hopes to discover himself, his purpose, and true love.

This book of faith makes us to realize that the kingdom of God lives in us, rather on us as a location "up there." The kingdom of God is a spiritual location and not a geographical one. It is indeed a Kingdom of God, Not a Place Called Heaven. "Ye as lively stones have been built up into a spiritual house" (1 Peter 2:5) shows that man is a "spirit" even though he has a covering called the "body." In other words, the kingdom of God is a "life" and not a location, even though this "life" also exists in a location. Jesus referred in the scripture about the kingdom of God in "us" rather "on" us and said, "Neither shall they say, lo here: or lo there: behold, the kingdom of God is "within you" (Luke17:21). Those actually entering into the kingdom of God are not those just entering the heavens, they are not those entering into the earth, neither are those entering into the waters. But those who are actually entering into the kingdom of God are those entering into "Christ," and while in Christ, no doubt they could exist in any location whether heaven or earth, since the kingdom of God is a "life." Apostle Stanley Onyenali is a minister of the gospel of Christ in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He writes because "it is an inspiration from the holy spirit teaching me to demystify to the world what the kingdom of God is." He is working on his next book. “As a youngster,” writes David Adam, “I always wanted to know more. I liked to climb the next hill and look around the next corner. My mother said I wanted to see the ‘back of beyond.’ I was never quite sure what she meant, but I was often aware of an otherness in the midst of what was plainly in view.” David Adam believes that the kingdom of God is all around us—in the beauty and power of nature; in work and leisure; in the love we experience and offer to others. This book suggests that as we develop an awareness of the presence of heaven in each and every day, we will come to trust that death itself is nothing to fear. Illustrated with simple line drawings, Living in Two Kingdoms contains many personal stories, anecdotes, prayers, and exercises. Both visionary and engagingly down to earth, Living in Two Kingdoms helps us to recognize that the visible world of matter and the invisible world of spirit are not two worlds but one. We can be sure that whatever harsh reality we may have to face from time to time, the true reality is that we are never on our own. Because here and now— whatever it may feel like—we are truly part of the kingdom of God.

This issue of The Ministry of the Word contains the first seven messages given during the fall 2018 term of the full-time training in Anaheim, California. The general subject of this series of messages is "The Central Vision." The central vision of the completing ministry of the apostle Paul is composed of three major items--God as our contents, Christ as the mystery of God, and the church as the mystery of Christ. The completing ministry of Paul revealed in his fourteen Epistles is an expansion of what he saw concerning what the Lord spoke to him at his conversion. The heavenly vision of Paul's completing ministry must be seen by us, and this vision must be renewed in us day by day.
