Is death the final event in human life, or does another existence follow? What are the signs and possible proofs of such continuity? Such questions have sparked speculation in philosophy, religion, art, and science throughout human history and remain a familiar concern for even the most casual observer of the human condition. In his provocative new book, Fred Frohock explores the possibility that our existence is neither defined by nor limited to the purely physical-nor is it terminated at death. Fearlessly pursuing such a sensitive subject, Frohock suggests that death's domain may not be quite the "undiscovered country" lamented by Hamlet. He wades boldly into the debates between hardcore materialists and devout spiritualists; provides glimpses of recent findings in brain research, the so-called mind-body problem, and consciousness studies; and in general offers an idiosyncratic introduction to some of the most provocative and least understood aspects of what we call "conscious" life. In the process, he provides fresh insights into the narratives, claims, and conundrums associated with life after death, near-death and out-of-body experiences, reincarnation, and a host of psychic phenomena that continue to puzzle the experts. Demonstrating a keen grasp of subjects ranging from neurochemistry to popular culture, Frohock is a sure-footed tour guide through a richly diverse field of research. He considers what past life regression therapy suggests about reincarnation, assessing the credibility of pioneering research by Brian Weiss and Ian Stevenson. He introduces readers to the work of the University of Virginia's Near Death Experience Project, with reports stretching back 35 years, and the Human Consciousness Project's study of 1,500 survivors of cardiac arrest. And he contemplates whether people in permanent vegetative states, like Terri Schiavo and Sunny von Blow, are alive or not-and what these transitional states tell us about death. Leavened with humor and a Renaissance-style intellect that draws in Tolstoy and Hemingway along with films like Solaris and Blade Runner, Frohock's deep meditations are deftly interposed with brief fictional interludes that humanize his book's more abstract dimensions while exploring claims about the supernatural. Approaching the world's most baffling subjects with a critical eye, an open mind, and an agnostic's heart, Beyond looks beyond the last threshold and points the way toward a better understanding of human existence.

Beyond the Sangres is a family saga that tells of the life long struggle of Zan and Liette to reconcile their heritage with the forces that run rough shod over their lives in the later half of the twentieth century. Beyond the Sangres reveals what happens to people of mixed ancestry when they are entangled by ties to divergent cultures. This powerful first Novel is a tale about the failure and success of adaptation and the creation of a new ethnicity. It is a story of love: love of the land, love of country, love of a lost way of life, and the love of a woman and man for each other. The heroism of human longing and the anguish of revolution set the stage in Beyond the Sangres for rebirth in a new creation. 'Beyond the Sangre' reveals an America that few know, but many long for. This book is as enigmatic as its title and and has layer upon layer of meaning. If you want a unique read about a yet to be discovered America, read 'Beyond the Sangres.'

Human sensors collect the information from environment and our body. Intellect dwells upon the obvious looking information and extracts, out of ordinary inferences. The joy lies in knowing. The art of knowing from routine information is called common sense. In Sanskrit, common sense is known as ‘Vivek’. It arises from thought when intellect dwells upon the information for a slightly longer period than routine. The intellect will dwell upon such information when it is used to, when the mind is relatively free and not overburdened by sense pursuits. What lies beyond common sense is the treasure of unmeasured potential. Sixth sense is a sense which connects human cognitive complex to the dimension of consciousness and it is known as Pragyan in Sanskrit. Pragyan is Intuition. The root word for intuition is Latin ‘intueri’ meaning in to you. Intuition has spiritual roots which lie in the dimension of consciousness. In the forthcoming chapters in this book, a perspective of background environment is provided. Science gives too specific but overall sketchy information about the complete picture whereas Philosophy does a better job on this. Philosophy is also based on logic and reason but there is no need to establish proof in a laboratory and its scope is vast. To complete our lifetimes, we cannot await Science to buildup the complete picture and use that to carve a path for our lives. Some key questions have been answered as to how this universe came in to being? Big Bang theory assumed a primeval atom, and the source of this atom remained unresolved. Astronomers keep getting baffled after detecting matter in universe older than itself. A summary of the applicable dimensions has been proposed along with nature of various dimensions. Time is a substance which flows like a wave. Origin of human life and presence of distinctive racial features has been explored. Common information as to why there are 12 hours in a day or seven days in a week is also important steps in human understanding of life on this planet. A unique link between astronomy and astrology has been established by replenishing the information which went missing down the ages. A chapter on how to enhance the sixth sense is a practical guide which is simple and easy to follow. This information is not freely available in a concise and logical manner. Evolved human society has the potential to change the course of life on a planet. The change starts with us and we have to accept the challenge of enhancing our sixth sense to connect to a dimension of consciousness and fulfill the life’s goals.

If teachers want to educate deaf learners effectively, they have to apply evidence-informed methods and didactics with the needs of individual deaf students in mind. Education in general -- and education for deaf learners in particular -- is situated in broader societal contexts, where what works within the Western world may be quite different from what works beyond the Western world. By exploring practice-based and research-based evidence about deaf education in countries that largely have been left out of the international discussion thus far, this volume encourages more researchers in more countries to continue investigating the learning environment of deaf learners, based on the premise of leaving no one behind. Featuring chapters centering on 19 countries, from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Central and Eastern Europe, the volume offers a picture of deaf education from the perspectives of local scholars and teachers who demonstrate best practices and challenges within their respective regional contexts. This volume addresses the notion of learning through the exchange of knowledge; outlines the commonalities and differences between practices and policies in educating deaf and hard-of-hearing learners; and looks ahead to the prospects for the future development of deaf education research in the context of recently adopted international legal frameworks. Stimulating academic exchange regionally and globally among scholars and teachers who are fascinated by and invested in deaf education, this volume strengthens the foundation for further improvement of education for deaf children all around the world.
