About the Book For students of law, timely and appropriate guidance is absolutely essential. In the absence of proper guidance, many students do not practice law even after completing their LLB. Our effort is to make law students understand that after completing LLB, they should only pursue advocacy. The necessity of timely and appropriate guidance for LLB students can be understood through the example of a lamp. This is my personal experience that I am sharing with you. It was the winter season, and because of the cold, the ghee (clarified butter) had solidified. A lamp was lit in the morning to offer prayers. After some time, it was noticed that the flame of the lamp had become very dim and was almost about to extinguish. If I had disturbed the flame of the lamp, it would have been an indication of its extinguishment, and if I did nothing, surely the lamp would have gone out in a while. Without touching the flame of the lamp to increase its brightness, I lit a matchstick and placed it beneath it. The lamp started to warm up, and the ghee inside began to melt. As the ghee melted, the flame of the lamp started to brighten on its own. In a short while, the flame had become so bright that there was no need for any external heat to keep the lamp warm. The flame of the lamp had started to melt the ghee itself. Now, the lamp, with its full heat and light, could not be stopped from burning brightly. During the journey of obtaining an LLB degree, a student is like this lamp. Inside them, there is a slow but steady flame of hope that they too can become a successful lawyer. However, after completing LLB, when the time comes to build a career, the student faces a completely different world. Where there is neither knowledge of the paths nor the direction. During this time, the flame of hope inside that student keeps burning slowly. If at this time the student does not receive proper guidance, then their hope of becoming a successful lawyer diminishes. Through proper guidance, their dim flame can be enhanced. When they win some cases at the beginning of their career, the enthusiasm within them ignites, just like the lamp emits its own light due to its warmth. This book is such an attempt to provide proper guidance to law students. It is divided into three parts. The first part discusses what advocacy is? It talks about the possibilities of success in advocacy and some misconceptions or rumors prevalent in the legal profession. The second part talks about the objectives of practicing law. We believe that when you find the right purpose to do something, your success becomes certain. The third part discusses how to achieve success in advocacy in a short time. Although this book is equally useful for every law student, it is written in Hindi for those students who live in small towns or rural areas and do not have proper guidance to become successful lawyers. We are confident that after reading this book every student will gain so much self-confidence that he/she too will strive to become a competent and successful Advocate. -R.S. Bhadouria (Advocate)
