This book is about my life from my early years up to today. I was born in the early forties in Ruguru location, Mathira Division in Central Province Kenya. I had a hard time in my early years of education because my parents, especially my father, did not believe in educating girls. I became a teacher and got promotions because of excelling in my International and National Examinations. I have taught in the following schools: Nanyuki Catholic Primary School, Gikondi Catholic Primary School, Ngandu Girls Primary School, North Marmanet Primary School, Lower Kabete Primary School, Ndururi High School, Ngaindeithia High Primary School and Ngaindeithia High School where I was a principal before I came to America. In America, I have been an Instructional assistant in an Adult school, a teacher in a childcare center, and currently I have a family childcare home. I have also attended colleges here in America to attain Early Childhood Education.

"This book documents important milestones in the epic journey traversed by the Central Bank of Kenya over the last 50 years, putting into perspective the evolution of central banking globally and within the East African region, and contemplating future prospects and challenges. The book is timely, mainly because the global financial landscape has shifted. Central bankers have expanded their mandates, beyond the singular focus on inflation and consider economic growth as their other important objective. Financial crises have continued to disrupt the functioning of financial institutions and markets, the most devastating episodes being the global financial crisis, which broke out in 2008 and from which the global financial system has not fully recovered, and the unprecedented challenges posed by the global coronavirus pandemic. Bank regulation has moved from Basel I, to Basel II, and somehow migrated to Basel III, although some countries are still at the cross-roads. The book originated from the wide ranging discussions on central banking, from a symposium to celebrate the 50 year anniversary on 13 September 2016 in Nairobi. The participants at the symposium included current and former central bank governors from Kenya and the Eastern Africa region, high level officials from multilateral financial institutions, policy makers, bank executives, civil society actors, researchers and students. The book is an invaluable resource for policy makers, practitioners and researchers, on how monetary policy and financial practices in vogue today in Kenya have evolved through time and worked very well, but also about some pitfalls"--

Following the approval of a new constitution in 2010, the authorities have embarked on important reforms including fiscal devolution, VAT reform, and the overhaul of the expenditure management framework. Supported by a three-year ECF, which expired in December 2013 with all six reviews completed, Kenya has consolidated macroeconomic stability. Growth has been robust, inflation contained, debt remained sustainable and reserve buffers increased (Tables 1a and 1b and Figures 1 and 2). This progress in a market-friendly environment has continued to attract the interest of foreign investors. As a result, Kenya is recognized as a frontier market increasingly integrated in global financial markets. A Eurobond debut issue of US$2 billion (the largest in SSA so far) took place successfully in June followed by a $750 million re-tap in December.
