Abstract: This study was a policy analysis of the Keeping Children and Families Safe Act of 2003 and the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Reauthorization Act of 2010. These Acts are part of the legislation addressing the issues of child abuse in the United States. The policy establishes a definition of child abuse and neglect in the nation and provides funding to states for the prevention, investigation, and follow-up of child maltreatment. The researcher used secondary data to analyze the policy and impact on child welfare in the United States. The legislation was analyzed using a modified version of David Gil's model and methodology for social policy analysis. The analysis included an overview on the historical events that have led to the legislation. Outcomes of the policies have demonstrated that although child abuse is being addressed, funding has hindered some of the programs for prevention services.
