In 1963, the Kansas Legislature provided for the registration of physical therapists by the Board (K.S.A. 65-2901 et seq.). In 1973, the Legislature enacted a bill for certification of physical therapist assistants under the physical therapy statutes. The requirement of continuing education for all physical therapists became effective July, 1978. The 1992 Legislature directed that the Board develop rules and regulations for continuing education requirements for physical therapist assistants. The 2003 Legislature enacted Senate Bill No. 225 which went into effect on April 1, 2004. The bill made substantial changes to the laws governing physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, including the change of credentialing status of physical therapists from registration to licensure on the effective date of the bill. The following is a compilation of the current statutes (K.S.A. 65-2901 through 65-2920) and rules and regulations (K.A.R. 100-29-1 through 100-29-17) pertaining to physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

"In 2002, the Kansas Legislature enacted the Naturopathic Doctor Registration Act. The bill was included in the Kansas Statutes Annotated as K.S.A. 65-7201 et seq. The statutes designated the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts as the agency responsible for registering naturopathic doctors commencing January 1, 2003. After that date, it became unlawful for anyone not registered by the Board to use the words "doctor of naturopathy", "doctor of naturopathic medicine", or "naturopathic medical doctor" or any other words, letters or abbreviations indicating or implying that the person is a naturopathic doctor. Effective, July 1, 2004 it became unlawful to use the term "naturopath" unless the person is registered by the Board. The following is a compilation of the current statutes and rules and regulations relating to naturopathy."
