Author Kenneth Haw was born to a family of wanderers, migrant workers, and moonshiners. His parents, both born in Oklahoma, traveled west to Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington, following the crops, before settling in the small town of Casa Grande, Arizona. Ken and his family lived in at least thirty-three different places before settling in Mesa, Arizona, in the early sixties. In 1962, Ken was faced with the choice of going to prison for vandalism at an early age or entering the US Air Force and trying to turn his life around. Just Wait til Your Dad Gets Home is the story of Kens decision, which, right or wrong, made him the man, husband, and father he is today. This coming-of-age memoir follows the life of a decorated law enforcement officer who overcame humble beginnings and a dysfunctional family life in a migrant farm worker family. His story is filled with rich detail about his life in Arizona and in the Southwest, sharing a variety of experiences in the Dallas Police Department and of some headline-grabbing fraud cases. He also chronicles the death of his mother. In this memoirone that leaves more questions than answers about his lifeKen recalls the varied experiences of his life and how they shaped him throughout the years.

Best friends, first loves, and memorable adventures are just a few of the unforgettable things in life that stay with you forever. Wayne Danka remembers them fondly in this heartwarming and often funny collection of five short stories celebrating a time when friends, family, and having fun were the most important things. Wayne and the guys he grew up with found themselves mixing it up with neighborhood street gangs, professional gamblers, and even mafia gangsters, all for the love of excitement. It was part of the culture growing up on the streets of New Jersey, a culture of manufacturing mischief, disregarding the probable odds, and simply being unafraid to take life as it comes. From the author of What Do You Want to Do, Break Your Mother’s Heart! comes another opportunity for readers to once again take a step back in time. Just Wait Till Your Father Gets Home! is a genuine testimonial to the magical love between a father and his two sons, the impact loyal friendships have in developing character, and the reverence of an era that will never again be duplicated.

What the critics are saying about Just Wait Until We Get Home: "It looks like a really great book...judging it by its cover. I haven't actually read it yet, but I hope to soon."--Boston Accent & Times Tribune "A subtle murder mystery with deep, complex characters and an interesting, involved subplot make this story a real suspense-filled page turner...or no, wait, hold the line a second, that's a different book entirely. Uhm, I believe we have some sort of mix up here. Sorry about that. Nevermind!"--Southern Drawl & Globe Gazette "The book Just Wait Until We Get Home! is an abomination. It is in no way representative of the people of the great Midwest, the heartland of our country. We are not all vandals and criminals. I think Tristram Hoosier should get a day job."--Midwestern Twang & Town Crier In Tristram Hoosier's second book about his family and growing up in Gary, Indiana, a neighbor's garage burns down, a grandmother reminisces about how Tristram's great-grandfather was arrested during Prohibition, an aunt makes a drug bust, a neighbor kid builds a real, working cannon in metal shop and a church bake sale turns into a disaster. Just Wait Until We Get Home! clearly illustrates that it's never too early to start procrastinating.

Laugh along with the author as he relates humorous anecdotes about growing up in the Eastern Kentucky town of Lynch which is located in Harlan County. Everyone should find something that relates to humorous incidents that occurred during his or her childhood. Learn the art of rat fishing, how to be a barber and make wine. Also reflect for a few moments as the author pays tribute to the brave young Marines he fought with in Vietnam and now see their names reside on a black granite wall in Washington, DC for eternity.

Dr. Rick Taylor had delivered many babies as a doctor but he learned that being a parent was much more important and special than being a doctor when he watched the birth of his son. This very ordinary experience began an extraordinary journey shared by father and son. "Lessons of Life" meanders through the lives of Dr. Taylor and his son while exposing the unlikely situations where surprising lessons are learned. The value of the lessons is not in their uniqueness as much as in the pedestrian nature of their occurrence. Father and son each survive first loves, near death experiences and personal quests to find a place in life. The comparison of these experiences and the lessons learned provide readers with moments of joy as well as sadness. It is the familiarity of these events that remind readers to recognize their own lessons and appreciate their teachers.
