This book examines the diversity of international student experiences in the top four destination countries in the English-speaking world (United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada). Bringing together scholars from the fields of education, sociology, communications, linguistics, international relations, and geography, this edited collection explores the challenges and opportunities of “international encounters” on college and university campuses. Additionally, the contributors rethink many of the key concepts in the field of international student studies such as “international student,” “host community,” and “cultural adjustment” while also critically examining the role that race, gender, and national identity play in shaping international student experiences. In light of the COVID-19 crisis, this edited volume explores the changing landscape of International Student Education in Japanese universities and the impact on global student mobility. Through analysing a wide range of data, the book engages historical, cultural, linguistic and pedagogical contexts relating to higher education in Japan. With a particular focus on Japanese tertiary education, the chapters provide comprehensive analysis from surveys and interviews conducted since 2020 amongst Japanese and non-Japanese Higher Education institutions (HEIs) on leadership styles, decision-making behaviours and perspectives on higher education practices in Japan. We are delighted to present the Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Innovation in Education, Science and Culture (ICIESC) that organized by Research and Community Service Centre of Universitas Negeri Medan (LPPM UNIMED). Proceedings of the 4th ICIESC contains several papers that have presented at the seminar with theme Education and Science in time of uncertainty: Recovering for the Future. This conference was held on 11 October 2022 virtually and become a routine agenda annually. The 4th ICIESC was realized this year with various presenters, lecturers, researchers and students from universities both in and out of Indonesia. This is an open access book. Education is an effort to educate people, through education the quality of human life becomes better, and it is captured and realized by all Muhammadiyah universities in Indonesia, especially from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Science. The problem that occurs is the need for a lot of innovation related to the implementation of learning in the classroom so that the learning process becomes more enjoyable. Thus, students will be more eager to learn and their academic achievement will be better, which of course has implications for the quality of education which is also better. Therefore, the Association of Muhammadiyah Higher Education Teaching Institutions (ALPTK-PTM) in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong (UNAMIN) dan Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Sorong (UNIMUDA) as the local committee initiated the holding of The 7th Progressive and Fun Education International Conference (The 7th Profunedu) which was held on 8-9 September 2022. The conference invited eight invited speakers from international speakers and Indonesian speakers. In addition, the conference was also attended by 115 participants and presenters with 107 papers listed. The 7th Profunedu this time collaborated with the Atlantis Press in the paper publication process. From 107 papers listed, 30 papers were selected to be published by Atlantis Press as publishing partners in this conference.

This is an open access book.Related to the big theme of the SDGs reinforcement at our previous conference, we try to invite all academics and researchers around the world to participate in the 4th Borobudur International Symposium 2022 (4thBIS 2022). As we know, the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on all the 17 SDGs have demonstrated how what began as a health catastrophe swiftly transformed into a human, socioeconomic and environmental crisis.
