The emigrant ancestor, Johan Gottfried Weber (1803-1879), was born in Goeblitz (Koblitz), Ebersbach, Germany. He married Johanna Rosiene Scharg (d. 1854) in Germany. Family left Germany for America in 1854. Johanna died on board the ship and is buried at sea. Family settled in Coleto, Victoria, Texas. Descendants live in Texas and elsewhere.

Albert Carl Gottfried Griepp (1849-1921), together with his widowed mother, a brother and a sister, immigrated from Germany to Cedarburg, Wisconsin in 1871. He married Anna Ernestina Ruth Henke in 1877, and moved to Bonduel, Wisconsin. Descendants lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and elsewhere.
