Help children draw and think more creatively by inspiring them with interesting and challenging art prompts and questions. Invitation to Draw offers 99 open-ended drawing prompts, each one proposing a question to investigate that encourages children to free associate and problem solve. The perforated pages make it easy to tear out prompts for on-the-go activities or allowing multiple kids to draw at the same time. A blank cake provides the chance to decorate a dream confection, an empty house inspires stories about who lives there, and a grid of triangles supplies the chance to explore abstract art. What might be hiding in that tree? What sort of robot can you design? The possibilities are endless! Drawing prompts inspire and encourage kids to think and draw differently, and sometimes more creatively, than they might when faced with a blank page. By offering constraints such as a pair of eyes or an empty car and asking a question, children begin thinking about the possibilities and answering the question in their heads even before they put pen (or marker or crayon!) to paper. And through the act of drawing and observing the drawing unfold, the brain continues to think and problem solve, opening up all kinds of creative possibilities around that specific idea.

APHRA BEHN is an unusual woman by any standard, especially those of 1676 London. A popular playwright and former spy, she does not bow to convention, does not always have the fortitude to turn a charming, but alcoholic attorney from her bed, and currently, does not have the funds to pay the rent on her London home. But a long-shot bet--that the Earl of Rochester's doltish young mistress can improve her painfully poor acting enough to play the lead in Aphra's latest play--could have her in the clear again. Until she's indebted to pay for the funerals of two brothers whose kindness helped her years ago. And the debt goes further than that--both deaths smack of murder, and Aphra is determined to find a killer and uncover a deadly secret...one that could engage all of England in a bloody civil war. From the squalid streets of London to the grand chambers of Whitehall Palace, author Molly Brown vividly recreates Restoration England at its most uproarious, while crafting a brilliant novel of history, humor, and heart-pounding intrigue.

This is an incredible, inspirational and fascinating autobiography of Cheryl Cecchetto. In 1990, in a 1-bedroom apartment in Santa Monica, California, an aspiring actress from Northern Canada, in need of her proverbial "day job," started a part-time, one-woman party planning company with a Smith-Corona typewriter, and a fax machine next to her bed. 25 years later, Cheryl Cecchetto is the go-to Special Event producer in Hollywood, inspiring the most original and distinguished celebrations in what should also be known as "The Entertain-ING Capitol of The World." "Passion to Create" chronicles Cheryl's path to manifesting some of the most memorable and high profile events in Los Angeles, sprinkled with amusing stories and anecdotes not normally available for general consumption. With humor and candor, Cheryl details the collaborative inspiration and challenges of many of her creations, as well as behind-the-scenes drama and hilarity that apparently comes with the territory. She also shares her philosophies on work ethic, service, generosity, family, and balance. "... and if it isn't fun," Cheryl adds, "why do it? I'm encouraged that people are intrigued by this Industry, want to hear more, and laugh in all the right places." Cheryl's many prestigious clients and projects include: Academy Awards Governor's Ball - 25 consecutive years Emmy Awards Governor's Ball - 17 consecutive years The G'Day USA Gala - 11 consecutive years Emirates Airlines Children's Hospital Los Angeles The Tournament of Roses - Rose Parade Guess? Organized around the theme of self-censorship -- the disconnect between what people privately think or feel and how they act publicly -- this brief seven-chapter text introduces students to social psychology by focusing on the field's most interesting studies and real-world applications. An INVITATION TO SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY contains high-interest studies that will engage students as they convey how social psychologists think about social life. Dale Miller shows that the common and extreme forms of social behavior are more alike than unlike. With an emphasis on social interaction in everyday situations, he makes connections to students' lives as if to say "we've all been in this situation."AN INVITATION TO SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY covers fewer studies but in considerably more detail than a traditional introductory text. It includes textured descriptions, so students come away with a deeper understanding of the core methodologies used by social psychologists to understand the world from a social psychological perspective. Miller achieves the balance of crafting a social psychology text that is valuable to instructors, while at the same time interesting and fun for students. Miller's text can be used as either a core or supplemental text in an introductory or advanced social psychology course.

The Open Invitation explores the relationship between prefigurative politics and activist video. Schiwy analyzes activist videos from the 2006 uprising in Oaxaca, the Zapatista’s Other Campaign, as well as collaborative and community video from the Yucatán. Schiwy argues that transnational activist videos and community videos in indigenous languages reveal collaborations and that their political impact cannot be grasped through the concept of the public sphere. Instead, she places these videos in dialogue with recent efforts to understand the political with communality, a mode of governance articulated in indigenous struggles for autonomy, and with cinematic politics of affect.
