Ronald Dion DeSantis is an American politician, attorney, and retired Navy officer who currently serves as the 46th governor of Florida. He has been in office since January 2019 and is affiliated with the Republican Party. Prior to his governorship, DeSantis served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018 representing Florida's 6th congressional district. DeSantis was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on September 14, 1978. He attended Yale University, where he played college baseball and graduated magna cum laude in 2001 with a degree in history. He then went on to Harvard Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2005. After law school, DeSantis served as a JAG officer in the US Navy and was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2012, he was elected to the US House of Representatives. During his time in Congress, he was a strong supporter of President Donald Trump and was known for his conservative views and tough stance on immigration and foreign policy.

David Koresh was a cult leader who gained international notoriety in the early 1990s. Born Vernon Wayne Howell in 1959, he changed his name to David Koresh in the early 1980s. He joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in California in the 1970s, but was expelled due to his radical beliefs. Koresh then moved to Texas and began preaching his own version of Christianity. He founded the Branch Davidian sect, which had about 100 members living in a compound near Waco, Texas. Koresh believed that he was a messiah and had a direct line of communication with God. In 1993, the compound was raided by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) after allegations of child abuse and weapons violations. The siege lasted 51 days and ended in tragedy when the FBI attempted to storm the compound, resulting in a fire that killed 76 members of the sect, including Koresh. The incident has been the subject of much controversy and investigation, with many questioning the tactics of law enforcement and the role of Koresh in the events that unfolded.
