"Girl, you have no idea how long I've waited to see your face again. Wow. My baby! I'm sorry if that offends you, but we had some moments that I'll never forget, and I'm talking about the clean stuff, like going to see a movie on the bus. Or that picnic with your Mom when your brother out ran me playing football. I still remember what you said, 'you're getting slow, ' well I'll tell you, your brother was fast. Hope you and your loved ones are well. You didn't think so but I was crazy about you. Oh this really is great. I live in the area, a lot of us are out this way, and I see you are too. I hope I'm not going overboard, buy I have waited for this...I'm glad I found you. And you look fantastic!"

I’ve often tried to describe those rare and special occasions in our lives that highlight very important moments that impact us in ways we’ll never forget. I continue to come up short but continue to search. While searching, I learned that being intimate with someone was more than what I thought it was. For a long time, I thought—and I’m sure others have too—that if you’re intimate with someone, that meant your encounter was pleasing and pleasant. I was so far from the truth that I got lost in my searching. As I got older and wiser, I found out that’s not always the case. As you read Intimate Moments, you’ll see, like me and so many others have, that because someone is intimate with you doesn’t mean it will always be to your liking. In fact, it can be uncomfortable and painful, but the impact it has on your life can still be something you’ll never forget. These are teaching moments that help develop us into the persons we become as time goes on and we grow as individuals. So just like before, have a seat, get comfortable, and grab your favorite beverage and snack. It’s time to travel again while reading about some amazing journeys as I share some of those stories with you. I’m sure you’re going to be surprised just like I was on how the definition of intimate differs from person to person even though their situations are similar. Hopefully by the time you finish reading, your understanding of intimacy will explode and become a vast area you visit from time to time. Enjoy!

A dangerous man . . . The man who'd broken into Elizabeth Hardy's Colorado house was no lost ski bum. Her inexplicable and intuitive powers, those unwanted gifts, were always vague, but she knew that much. Sam Oliver was tall, dark, and deadly--a liar and a trickster, and she'd finally found a man she couldn't ignore. Off limits . . . She didn't look like a fraud and a liar, and after years in Army Intelligence Col. Sam Oliver should know. Instead Elizabeth Hardy was a pale, vulnerable-looking waif, though he didn't buy her innocent act. He'd always made it a rule to keep his hands off his targets. Some rules were made to be broken. Unanswered questions . . . With a young housewife missing and presumed dead, there were no simple answers to any number of questions. Why did the missing woman look exactly like the also-missing daughter of the secretary of state? Why did Elizabeth want to trust him, why did Sam suddenly want to believe in psychics? For God's sake, why couldn't they resist each other? And the biggest question of all: would they survive to find out what was going on between them? Or was all hell about to break loose? RITA FINALIST! "Elizabeth, Oliver, and danger. Certainly a combination you ought not miss!" -Maldivian Book Reviews About the Author: Anne Stuart recently celebrated over forty years as a published author. A behavioral scientist explores love, belongingness, and fulfillment, focusing on how modern technology can both help and hinder our need to connect. A Next Big Idea Club nominee. Millions of people around the world are not getting the physical, emotional, and intellectual intimacy they crave. Through the wonders of modern technology, we are connecting with more people more often than ever before, but are these connections what we long for? Pandemic isolation has made us even more alone. In Out of Touch, Professor of Psychology Michelle Drouin investigates what she calls our intimacy famine, exploring love, belongingness, and fulfillment and considering why relationships carried out on technological platforms may leave us starving for physical connection. Drouin puts it this way: when most of our interactions are through social media, we are taking tiny hits of dopamine rather than the huge shots of oxytocin that an intimate in-person relationship would provide. Drouin explains that intimacy is not just sex—although of course sex is an important part of intimacy. But how important? Drouin reports on surveys that millennials (perhaps distracted by constant Tinder-swiping) have less sex than previous generations. She discusses pandemic puppies, professional cuddlers, the importance of touch, “desire discrepancy” in marriage, and the value of friendships. Online dating, she suggests, might give users too many options; and the internet facilitates “infidelity-related behaviors.” Some technological advances will help us develop and maintain intimate relationships—our phones, for example, can be bridges to emotional support. Some, on the other hand, might leave us out of touch. Drouin explores both of these possibilities.
