In 1996 William Angel launched a unique, pioneering study tracing the origin, growth and basic features of the international law of youth rights. It consisted of both source documents and commentary on the historical trends to elaborate and codify international instruments and standards in this field, as well as action taken by governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organizations to promote and protect youth rights. It concluded with a call for a new international instrument and monitoring machinery to better promote and protect the rights of youth on a global basis. The aim of the current revised, updated and expanded edition of this ground-breaking work is twofold. First, to preserve and update the landmark historical research undertaken by William Angel and present it to today’s audience. Second, to introduce up-to-date analysis of the state of the International Law of Youth Rights and to provide an easy-to-use compilation of sources of law for researchers and practitioners active in this field. This important collection will provide a roadmap for readers to finding the various sources of the International Law of Youth Rights and a reference point for the most relevant legal documents in force. It aims to spark further legal, political and sociological research in the academic field, as well as support even stronger advocacy actions to further the rights of young people. Two volume set.

Need for Change: Towards the New International Economic Order represents a selection of speeches given during the period 1974 to early 1980. The speeches are grouped in terms of broad phases or periods in the development of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development's (UNCTAD) work. In most cases they are transcripts from oral presentations and are reproduced more or less as delivered. The volume is organized into five parts. Part I discusses the background against which the specific activities of UNCTAD were being fashioned. Part II presents a diagnosis of the weaknesses besetting the world economic system from the point of view of the developing countries. Part III sets out and explains specific proposals put forward by the UNCTAD secretariat as suitable curative measures. Part IV covers the case for comprehensive, interrelated reform of trading relations; details of the proposed new mechanisms tabled by the secretariat from time to time; and discussion of the characteristics of various individual commodities and their particular importance in the trade of the developing countries. Part V focuses on the role of UNCTAD in the UN system, which entails discussion of the structure of the system as a whole and examination of the nature of international economic negotiations, in both their substantive and procedural aspects.

It is easy to say "I have no prejudices", "I'm not racist, so it has nothing to do with me", "I didn't invite those refugees". It is hard to say "I may not be to blame for what happened in the past but I want to take responsibility for making sure it doesn't continue in the future". The Education Pack "all different - all equal" was originally produced in 1995 as an educational resource for the European youth campaign against racism, antisemitism, xenophobia and intolerance. Soon after its publication it became a reference work for those involved in intercultural education and training with young people across Europe and beyond. Translated into many languages, it remains today one of the most successful and most sought after publications of the Council of Europe. The usefulness of the pack stems from the variety and creativity of the methodologies proposed. More than twenty years after the "all different - all equal" campaign, the role plays, simulation exercices, case studies and cooperative group work that it proposes remain an inspiration to many youth workers, trainers, teachers and other people actively involved in intercultural education. European societies continue to suffer from a growth of racist hostility and intolerance towards minorities and foreigners; the necessity for intercultural youth work remains undiminished and the relevance of this pack remains unquestionable. Little bit has been changed in this new edition of the pack, apart from an updating of references. Most changes are visible and usable only in the online version, which offers relevant links with other resources for human rights education which continue the legacy of the campaign: equality in dignity and rights, respect for broader appreciation of diversity.
