ABOUT THE BOOK Marriage is an institution ordained by God. It is the union between a man and a woman. God's intention for marriage from creation is that two people will come together in one flesh as husband and wife irrespective of the tribe they belong to. God has as well reconciled us back to Himself through the death of Christ on the cross of Calvary. Therefore, there is neither Jews nor Greek but everyone that has accepted him as lord and personal Saviour, He has accepted. Even as the scripture says, he that will come to Him he will not cast out. Therefore tribal differences should no longer be the reason marriage should not hold. This book provides us insight into the prospect and the challenges associated with inter-tribal marriage. This book will be beneficial to as many that are in this type of marriage or that want to go in this type of marriage. Today, Christianity has become the most popular and fast-growing religion in Ghana. Paradoxically, the Christian Church, in whatever form it has taken, has, for a complexity of reasons, basically remained a weak church with a weak foundation. This book discusses, from a theologico-cultural anthropological perspective, some of the ecclesial and social processes and factors that, the author believes, are responsible for the creation of this paradox in the case of the Ghanaian Catholic Church and demonstrates how they influence the search for a Catholic spiritual tradition in it.

"Stanley H. Skreslet offers an inviting new proposal for conceptualizing the field of missiology. Comprehending Mission includes a concise overview of the development of missiology of the last century, introducing its characteristic methodologies, and offering insight into the kids of questions missiologists typically ask. In the last hundred years missiology has moved form emphasizing the practical challenges of foreign mission service to highlighting the intercultural aspects of Christian outreach. Today, missiology is lesss a form of practical theology than a field of study where theological concerns intersect with critical studies undertaken by anthropologists, historians, and other scholars." --

The past few years have been very traumatic ones for many Nigerians. With the exception of those in power or close to the seat of power, the changes of 1998 were a welcome relief given the tyranny and repression that the country had suffered under General Abacha. With many people in prison and more in exile, the death of Abacha was received with a sigh of relief. Many observers have seen the resilience that has come to signify the strength and potential of this once 'giant of Africa', as well as the destruction and the socio-political and economic decay of the past decades. The Nigerian people have endured the exploitation of their rights due to the lack of democratic leadership, and with this in mind, they have been called to attention to fight for their country.

In the United States, some populations suffer from far greater disparities in health than others. Those disparities are caused not only by fundamental differences in health status across segments of the population, but also because of inequities in factors that impact health status, so-called determinants of health. Only part of an individual's health status depends on his or her behavior and choice; community-wide problems like poverty, unemployment, poor education, inadequate housing, poor public transportation, interpersonal violence, and decaying neighborhoods also contribute to health inequities, as well as the historic and ongoing interplay of structures, policies, and norms that shape lives. When these factors are not optimal in a community, it does not mean they are intractable: such inequities can be mitigated by social policies that can shape health in powerful ways. Communities in Action: Pathways to Health Equity seeks to delineate the causes of and the solutions to health inequities in the United States. This report focuses on what communities can do to promote health equity, what actions are needed by the many and varied stakeholders that are part of communities or support them, as well as the root causes and structural barriers that need to be overcome.

A sobering account of a disenfranchised American working class and important policy solutions to the nation’s economic inequalities One of the country’s leading scholars on economics and social policy, Isabel Sawhill addresses the enormous divisions in American society—economic, cultural, and political—and what might be done to bridge them. Widening inequality and the loss of jobs to trade and technology has left a significant portion of the American workforce disenfranchised and skeptical of governments and corporations alike. And yet both have a role to play in improving the country for all. Sawhill argues for a policy agenda based on mainstream values, such as family, education, and work. While many have lost faith in government programs designed to help them, there are still trusted institutions on both the local and federal level that can deliver better job opportunities and higher wages to those who have been left behind. At the same time, the private sector needs to reexamine how it trains and rewards employees. This book provides a clear-headed and middle-way path to a better-functioning society in which personal responsibility is honored and inclusive capitalism and more broadly shared growth are once more the norm.
