Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche gave these teachings during a Medicine Buddha retreat held at Land of Medicine Buddha in Soquel, California, from October 26 to November 17, 2001. Edited by Ailsa Cameron, this book covers an amazing range of topics. From a review in BuddhaDharma magazine: Teachings From the Medicine Buddha Retreat is a nearly complete record of the teachings given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche during a twenty-five day Medicine Buddha retreat in the fall of 2001. The sections are short, on topics such as making offerings to the buddhas and the nature of mind. The retreat was held less than two months after the 9/11 attacks, and Lama Zopa's teachings are full of references to terrorism, war, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The book is not meant as a coherent presentation on any particular topic; however, one is rewarded by just opening it and reading anywhere. Lama Zopa is a clear and effective teacher, and his stories are endlessly entertaining and inspiring. This book is made possible by kind supporters of the Archive who, like you, appreciate how we make these teachings freely available in so many ways, including in our website for instant reading, listening or downloading, and as printed and electronic books. "Robert Thurman is a living treasure, one of today's most provocative spiritual thinkers." - Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence Robert Thurman, the preeminent scholar and interpreter of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy for the modern world, leads us on a joyful exploration into the nature of reality through Buddha's threefold curriculum of "super-education." "Buddha had to be an educator, rather than a prophet or religion founder, since he had achieved his goal of exact and complete understanding of reality by using reason, experiments to open his own mind, and vision to do so," Thurman writes. "From his own experience, he could help [others] as a teacher by streamlining the process. He could not just transplant his realization into their minds. They could not get their own realizations just by believing whatever he said. He could only provide them with a prospect of full realization along a path of learning and experiencing they could follow-they would have to travel on their own." This book is your invitation to travel that same road. Deeply felt and bracingly direct, it doesn't teach about the teaching-it is the teaching. Get ready to get real, and have fun along the way, as you chart a path to reliable, lasting happiness.

“Gora” is one of the finest masterpieces of Rabindra Nath Tagore. This novel is about a young man who is a traditional Hindu. He presents himself against the British colonists culture. He takes the support of organized religion to oppose the British regime in India. the fine portrayal of the Bengal of 1900’s is a major achievement for Tagore. The tussle between old and new is very thrilling, although Tagore’s ‘mild style’ makes the proceedings ‘soft and humble’. No doubts, ‘Gora” is one of the finest literary pieces of Bangla literature and here we present an authentic English version of ‘Gora’. A must-read for the elite thinkers.

‘The time has come for humanity to look deep within and face a part of themselves that opens them to an eternal love that exists in the higher realms, beyond their comprehension. To live in darkness and not want the light is to live in a cave without sunshine – the eyes get weak and cannot see anything beyond. So do not resist your progress forward by being resistant to new ideas for change and bring yourselves into the light. For this I have given of myself to show you a world beyond your conception.’ – Grandpa What happens when divinity intervenes and touches the hearts of all beings? Tehruna Meresh, through the process of automatic writing, brings you an anthology of lucid, and at times overwhelming messages from beyond, in the words of her spiritual guide – her ‘Grandpa’. Through this book, it is the endeavour of both her and Grandpa to show that spiritual guides do exist. They are loving and kind, and even though we may not know who they are, if we simply ask for their help, they will be there to assist us always.

Sri Ramakrishna is widely known as a nineteenth-century Indian mystic who affirmed the harmony of all religions on the basis of his richly varied spiritual experiences and eclectic religious practices, both Hindu and non-Hindu. In Infinite Paths to Infinite Reality, Ayon Maharaj argues that Sri Ramakrishna was also a sophisticated philosopher of great contemporary relevance. Through a careful study of Sri Ramakrishna's recorded oral teachings in the original Bengali, Maharaj reconstructs his philosophical positions and analyzes them from a cross-cultural perspective. Sri Ramakrishna's spiritual journey culminated in the exalted state of "vijñana," his term for the "intimate knowledge" of God as the Infinite Reality that is both personal and impersonal, with and without form, immanent in the universe and beyond it. This expansive spiritual standpoint of vijñana, Maharaj contends, opens up a new paradigm for addressing central issues in cross-cultural philosophy of religion, including divine infinitude, religious pluralism, mystical experience, and the problem of evil. Sri Ramakrishna's vijñana-based religious pluralism--when grasped in all its subtlety--proves to have major philosophical advantages over dominant Western models. Moreover, his mystical testimony and teachings not only cut across long-standing debates about the nature of mystical experience but also bolster recent defenses of its epistemic value. Maharaj further demonstrates that Sri Ramakrishna's unique response to the problem of evil resonates strongly with Western "soul-making" theodicies and contemporary theories of skeptical theism. A pioneering interdisciplinary study of one of India's most important philosopher-mystics, Maharaj's book is essential reading for scholars and students in philosophy of religion, theology, religious studies, and Hindu studies.
