V. 28 The first possible argument which could be raised on ap peal is that the trial court, in accepting defendant's plea of guilty, failed to comply with Supreme Court Rule 402. (ill. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 110a, par. The record reflects that when defendant's case was called, defendant appeared repre sented by privately retained counsel. After a pretrial confer ence with the court, defense counsel in defendant's presence informed the trial judge that defendant wished to enter a plea of guilty. The trial judge informed defendant of the crime charged in each of the indictments by name. Defendant was advised of the possible statutory penalties for each of the crimes charged and of the fact that the sentences could be made to run consecu tively. Defendant stated that he understood that by the enter ing of a plea of guilty, he waived his right to a trial by jury, his right to a bench trial and his right to confront the witnesses against him. The trial judge by questioning defendant ascertained that he understood there had been a pretrial conference with the court and understood the sentences which would be imposed upon a plea of guilty. Thereafter, the facts which provided the basis for each of the indictments were stipulated to by the parties. Defendant's pleas of guilty were then accepted by the trial court.
