Looking back, I cannot believe I allowed myself to be taken in, manipulated and mentally abused for 5 years by a man who never once told me he loved me. How could an intelligent, well educated, mature woman with so much going for herself become a victim of a Sexual Predator? Even now, I can't answer that question. Those in the field of medicine, those who study the mind, may be able to help me answer that question. For now, I just pray that it doesn't happen to you. Don't let a handsome face and a few compliments cause you to lose everything in your life that is important. I had everything I needed and I almost lost it all. There are so many lonely women out here. There are predators around every corner waiting for the opportunity to give you a compliment, get into your head, steal your heart, rape your body and rob you blind. It happened to me and it could happen to you. How many times have we heard and read stories of women in abusive relationships continuing to stay with the abuser or leaving and going back time and time again. I would often ask myself how in the world could a woman go through that kind of abuse and not walk away. Now that I have been in their shoes, I will never judge them again. Something happens to you when you love someone. Something breaks down in you and you can't see your way out. Your self esteem becomes so damaged you become crippled. The most important thing we can ever do for ourselves in this life is to love God and to love ourselves first and foremost. If we do not know how to love ourselves, we will never know how to truly love someone else.

This book is about sexual offenders. Not the ones on television or at your local movie theater. These are real violators engaged in compulsive criminally violent behavior including abduction, serial rape, sexual homicide, necrophilia, and other grotesque acts visited upon a vulnerable American population whose justice system fails to control. That is, this work departs from an antiseptic world of fiction for a frightening glimpse through the eyes of men, women, children who like cross-eyed creatures lurking on a different plane of existence see their wickedness through a mask of sanity. This work contains a full disclosure of three generations of incarcerated sexual offenders, from grandparents to their grandchildren, who committed the most horrendous acts towards others. In fact, there is no way of knowing how many victims this family assaulted, but in the final analysis there are specifics that you will come to understand about them that may change your point of view about that ultimate punishment available to us. The chapter on predatory pedophiles is a case study of three predators ranging in age from 17 to 52. It reveals the realities of pedophiles and explains why most pedophiles are rarely apprehended, and if they are, why they are eventually released from custody.

Until recently professionals in both investigation and treatment have considered the fields of sexual violence and domestic abuse as separate and distinct. Time is an abducted child’s worst enemy. Seventy-four percent of abducted children who are murdered are killed within three hours of their abduction. It takes, on the average, two hours for a parent to report a child missing. This gives responders only one hour to get an investigation up and running in an attempt to locate and recover the child alive. Investigating Missing Children Cases: A Guide for First Responders and Investigators provides a solid training guide on missing children investigative techniques, enabling law enforcement professionals to respond confidently with a plan of action that offers the best possible chance for a positive outcome. The book provides law enforcement agencies with the most current information available to guide them through a missing or runaway child dispatch. It is designed to help investigators respond quickly, expeditiously evaluate the situation, conduct an Endangerment Risk Assessment (ERA) of the child, and commence a thorough, organized investigation—starting from the moment the police are contacted. By following the guidelines in this book, those tasked with these cases can make the best possible decisions in the shortest amount of time. The protocols and methodologies presented are based on personal police experience and statistical evidence from research and studies gathered from thousands of runaway and missing children cases. Details on those studies and their findings are provided in the appendix. Time is of the essence in missing children cases. Make every second count.

This book unmasks the sexual offender by providing clear, comprehensible information about the motivations, techniques, and dynamics of sexual offenders and their behavior. It not only explores the biases and myths that the reader may rely upon to understand deviance but also explains pathways to offending, the distorted thinking and relating that offenders engage in, and the ways offenders manipulate and exploit others. Sexual offenders are surrounded by mythology, fascination, and revulsion. People who commit sexual offenses present difficult and complicated issues interpersonally, as well as in treatment and management; denial, victim-blaming, aggression, and blatant chronic deception are inherent in interactions with them. Unfortunately, the failure to truly understand their motives and techniques helps provide excuses for and further camouflage of their deviance. The first part of the text explores the presumptions commonly adopted about sexual offenders and shows how misinformation supports the inappropriate behavior of the sexual offender. The second section focuses on exposing the sexual offender using straightforward language and tangible examples. A final, third section includes safety and management strategies for dealing with sex offenders for those both inside and outside the realms of law enforcement and offender supervision. This book is intended for anyone interested in learning about sexual offenders. It is useful for both professionals and non-professionals, including students, paralegals, victim advocates, and others involved in the criminal justice system or mental health field.
