The practical difference between illegal porn sites and the "non-nude model" sites prevalent on the internet the author describes as 'kiddie soft-porn' is that the latter generally only display pages of "thumbnail" images of children who are 'scantily' clothed. Such sites are probably legal in USA. But as you will quickly learn from browsing these sites, the children are posed in a manner that is not neutral. These sites are 'overweighted' with costumes and camera angles that sexualize the child. The term "child pornography" is inherently contradictory. Adult pornography is based on instinctive behavior, and legally 'consumed' in private. Material that is classified as "child pornography" is always illegal. In the 'grey area' is material that includes child nudity and could be art, just as adult nudity can lawfully be incorporated into artistic expression. The problem becomes difficult because even fine art can be debased or debased material called art. In the U.S.A. the attempt to regulate pornography is complex because of the First Amendment, since forms of entertainment containing sexual themes or visual sexual content is considered a form of speech. Legal disputes are actually not about pornography but the legal term obscenity. Over the years a Fog of Fuzzy Concepts has developed as a result of attempts to create a legal definition of obscenity and poses an impediment to regulating exploitation of the material referred to as kiddie soft-porn. Because wage, hour and working conditions of children in employment can be regulated, this work proposes a way to use economic dis-incentives and financial liability under wage and hour laws to discourage its production in the first place. If wage and hour laws and regulations are extended to such sites and enforced as suggested a winnowing process will eliminate all but the few legitimate sites genuinely intended for careers in the modeling or glamour business and deter abuse of the internet. Contains sociological and anthropological analysis of origins of pornography and relation to modern broadcast by internet, presented in generally non-technical terms. Contains legal analysis of Constitutional law applied to obscenity and internet and discussion of limitations of existing rules as applied to kiddie soft-porn, presented in generally non-technical terms. Contains discussion of internet and internet commerce and proposals for regulation of domain names, presented in generally non-technical terms. Contains discussion of existing wage and hour law as applicable to child actors and proposals for change in law. Contains appendixes of web site addresses, bibliography and index.

Bestselling author Steve Farrar has good news for the average man: it doesn't matter if you've had a great start in the Christian life, or a rough one. It doesn't matter if you've stumbled time and again, or even fallen flat on your face. What matters most in this all-important race of life is how you finish. According to Farrar, the man who hangs in there for the long haul with his wife, his kids, and his Lord is an exception these days. Finishing Strong, now in trade paperback, offers lively use of Scripture, contemporary illustrations, and study questions to equip every reader to be that exception. For the man who wants to climb the character ladder more than the corporate one, this is an essential tool.

Among politicians of national stature today, there is perhaps none more respected as a principled conservative than Rick Santorum. In It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good, Santorum articulates the humane vision that he believes must inform public policy if it is to be effective and just. An appreciation for the civic bonds that unite a community lies at the heart of genuine conservatism. Moreover, Santorum demonstrates how such an approach to political, social, and economic problems offers the most promise for those on the margin of life: the poor, the vulnerable, and minorities who have often been excluded from opportunity in America. Santorum argues that conservative statesmanship is animated by a sense of stewardship for an inheritance. But what do we inherit as Americans? And how can we be good stewards of that inheritance? Building on Robert Putnam's discussion of "social capital," the habits of association and trust that are the preconditions of any decent society, Santorum assesses how well, in the past generation, Americans have cared for the "fabric" of society. He explores in detail various dimensions of social and cultural connection that are the foundation of the common good. And he presents innovative policy proposals for the renewal of American society at all levels. Throughout his book, Santorum emphasizes the central role of the family—in contradistinction to the metaphorical "village" of the federal government, as promoted by Hillary Clinton—in achieving the common good. With a sustained argument touching on first principles throughout, this ambitious and original book is a major contribution to contemporary political debate. It Takes a Family further establishes Santorum as the leader of reform-minded civic conservatives in America.

A sharp, funny, and heartfelt memoir from the author of The Night the Lights Went Out, The Hike, and The Postmortal about fatherhood and the ups and downs of raising a family in modern America No one writes about family quite like Drew Magary. In Someone Could Get Hurt, he reflects on his own parenting experiences to explore the anxiety, rationalizations, compromises, and overpowering love that come with raising children. In brutally honest and funny stories, Magary reveals how American mothers and fathers cope with being in over their heads—from getting drunk while trick-or-treating and telling dirty jokes to make bath time go smoothly to committing petty vandalism to bond with a five-year-old. Someone Could Get Hurt offers a hilarious and heartfelt look at child rearing with a glimpse into the genuine love and compassion that accompany the missteps and flawed logic. It’s the story of head lice, almost-dirty words, flat head syndrome, and a man trying to commit the ultimate act of selflessness in a selfish world.

Is a smoking, alcohol, food, gambling, Internet, drug, or sex addiction holding you back from getting what you want most? Over the past twenty-five years, renowned addiction therapist Dr. Frederick Woolverton has used his dynamic, empathetic approach to help thousands of addicts achieve long-term recovery—including himself. He sees the specific habit as less important than the underlying chaos and fear that motivate the urge to soothe ourselves with bad habits. The solution, he has found, requires only a better understanding of yourself and a change in attitude. Using real patient examples as well as research and his own experience, Dr. Woolverton and coauthor and former patient Susan Shapiro show how to thrive without self-medicating. Woolverton’s specific instructions do not require an expensive therapist, rehab, a twelve-step program, or a higher power (though he does make readers aware of those viable options). Let him help you beat your addiction. When you conquer a toxic habit, you are leaving room for something beautiful to take its place.
