Excerpt from Historical Catalogue, 1816-1916 This is the third historical catalogue to lie published. The two earlier editions were of 1S90 and 1901. According to the original plan the second would have been in 1900 and the third in 1910. It was not practicable to carry out the plan. The centennial year almost compels the publication of this edition. Previous to 1S90 it had been the custom fora long time to issue once in five years a list of graduates and those who had studied in the Seminary at least one year. The last known address was also published. Through the researches of Professor Clark in preparation of the history of the Seminary some errors that had long had a place in the catalogues have been corrected. Additional assistance has come from Dea. James H. Crosby of the class of 1865 and Rev. Edgar M. Cousins of the class of 1880. Many other alumni have rendered helpful service by giving information about their fellows whose address was unknown to us. There yet remain upwards of 70 former students of this seminary cither the date and place of whose death is unknown, or from whom no reply can be gained by writing to their last known address. If any person notices such omissions and can supply the deficient information, lie will confer a favor by sending it to the registrar. Also if any one notices errors he is requested to send corrections to the registrar who will be grateful for them. Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
