Some pains take lifetimes to get through. Matsuda's poems break for us all the Japanese-American code of silence toward the indignities of the nine U. S. government-mandated internment camps of WWII like Minidoka in Idaho where Matsuda was born.

This book picks up the Continental Divide Trail in Idaho at the western border of Yellowstone National Park and takes the reader some 900 miles all the way to the Canadian border. From the Beaverhead Mountains in the Bitterroot Range to the Scapegoat and Bob Marshall Wildernesses, Idaho and Montana's most spectacular and remote wild lands fill page after page in a book that fits into your backpack or makes for great reading anytime. You'll have no better companion than the lively and humorous voice of Lynna Howard and the dramatic, breathtaking photography of Leland Howard. Aspects of history, wildlife, geology, and biology are explained along the way. For day hikes, destination hikes, or longer treks for the avid backpacker, this book is a must. This trail is rougher and more challenging than the Pacific Crest Trail or the Appalachian Trail, Lynna writes. A spirit of adventure is the best thing you can pack!

A catalog of available wind data has been assembled for the states of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. However, this data summary does not include those data which are in the National Climatic Center archives nor does it include those wind data collected by the U.S. Forest Service. Since 1970," 100 new surface anemometers and 12 to 15 instrumented towers have been operated for various lengths of time. Most of these data are available from areas of high wind and areas with significant numbers of eolian features. Only a minimum amount of these data has been analyzed and then only for single station climatology. A major effort seems warranted to digitize and analyze this valuable reservoir of data.
