"Shawn Engel is the real deal: a boss mystic whose influence is great, ideas sparkling, and power palpable. You will not find spellwork explained more accessibly, or made more fun, by anyone." —Jerico Mandybur, author of Neo Tarot This beautifully illustrated guide introduces new witches to sigils, amulets, potions, and spells that will encourage them to reclaim and use their power as a catalyst for social change. In The Power of Hex, author Shawn Engel shows young witches how to use their own power in an inclusive way and empowers them to create their own spells with their new knowledge. Beginning with the definition of hexing, unpacking the ethics, and showing how disenfranchised groups have used this type of magic throughout history for protection, The Power of Hex leads into modern takes on the practice. From there, an overview of focusing energy in different rituals leads into four main spell chapters, rounding out to a chapter dedicated to building your own spells using aligned ingredients. This book sets itself apart because it aims to simplify this powerful type of magic while enforcing morality. We don't want to sink to the level of those we are cursing; hexing is meant to protect and arm. Hex responsibly and effectively!

Known in Pennsylvania Dutch as brauche or braucherei, the folk-healing practice of powwowing was thought to draw upon the power of God to heal all manner of physical and spiritual ills. Yet some people believed, and still believe today, that this power to heal came not from God, but from the devil. Controversy over powwowing came to a climax in 1929 with the York Hex Murder Trial, in which one powwower from York County, Pennsylvania, killed another powwower (who, he believed, had placed a hex on him). In Powwowing Among the Pennsylvania Dutch, David Kriebel examines the practice of powwowing in a scholarly light and shows that, contrary to popular belief, the practice of powwowing is still active today. Because powwowing lacks extensive scholarly documentation, David Kriebel&’s research is both a groundbreaking inquiry and a necessity for the scholar of Pennsylvania German history and culture. The fact that powwowing is still practiced may come as a surprise to some readers, but included in this book are the interviews Kriebel had with living powwowers during his seven years of fieldwork in southeastern and central Pennsylvania. Along with these interviews, Kriebel includes biographical sketches of seven living powwowers; descriptions of powwowing as it was practiced in years past, compared with the practice today; a discussion of the belief of powwowing as healing; and a discussion of the future, if any, of powwowing, and what it will take for powwowing to continue to survive.

Do you feel that fortune is not your favor? Do you have a need for powerful protection from your enemies? Do you long for more control over your own destiny? Those who have had the good luck of being born to privilege expect and usually receive leniency, justice and opportunity. They are surrounded by the protection of their wealthy families and powerful friends. For everyone else, black magic is the means to obtain power and protection and to open the door to opportunities. It's the way to get control over every aspect of your life in an out-of-control, imbalanced world, to obtain justice when it is lacking and to turn life-long bad luck into good fortune. "Practical Black Magic: How to Hex and Curse Your Enemies" explains how witchcraft powers are obtained and cultivated and gives instructions for attacking enemies and advancing your personal interests while protecting yourself from harm. The final chapter gives specific spells and rituals for cursing and hexing your enemies.
