Hermes is the Greek god of the Word, of thought and magic, the swift-moving messenger of the Divine and guardian of souls in the Afterlife. In Ancient Egypt he was the majestic god Thoth, the Recorder, the lord of measurement and science, the brother/husband of Isis. In Rome, he was of course Mercury, flying through the Empyrean at the speed of idea by the aid of his winged helmet and boots. In this broad survey of the Hermetic arts, author Jacob Slavenburg brings an unparalleled depth of insight to the subject. He examines the historical Hermetic literature and details its relevance to modern occultism, from the symbolism of architecture and art to the mysteries of Freemasonry. The heavenly mysteries of astrology are explored as are the healing arts which derive from the spirit of scientific inquiry embodied by Thoth/Hermes. Slavenburg examines the magical writings of the Greek papyri and their development into the contemporary magical practices of modern adepts. He sheds light on the workings of alchemy and the esoteric philosophy to the world of modern chemistry and physics. He explores the origin of evil and the realm of the afterlife, and the Hermetic doctrines of reincarnation and karma. In addition, the author provides a wealth of biographical data on the magi of Hermeticsm, from Ficino to Agrippa, John Dee to Giordano Bruno.

This is a poetrybook entitled, The Taj Mahal: Quatrains 1 to 80". This is a long ode to the Taj Mahal. This is a third edition. The poetrybook is divided into 4 chapters. Each chapter has 5 sonts. Each sont has 4 quatrains. The total number of quatrains is 80 quatrains since: 4 chapters x 5 sonts/chapter x 4 quatrains/sont = 80 quatrains. What is a "sont"? The poet invents the word "sont" to differentiate his poems from a "sonnet". The poet defines "sont" as a "16 line poem". A "sonnet" is a 14 line poem. The long poem was first written between September-October 2002 in Milpitas (California). The long poem is now published via lulu.com on November 11, 2016, Friday as a first edition. The third edition is released on January 3, 2017. The original long poem is 100 quatrains but I cut off the 100 quatrains to 80 quatrains for this book. The remaining 20 quatrains is transferred to a sequel. The author plans to release a second poetrybook or a sequel about the Taj Mahal by 2017.

At birth, Hermes, son of Zeus and the Nymph Maia, says his first word: "Gimme!" In this brilliant, hilarious graphic novel about the mischievous, fun-loving messenger of the gods, Caldecott Medal winner Mordicai Gerstein, transports classical mythology to the 21st century. "The world!" the newly born Hermes says. "It's even better than I expected! I love it! I want it all!" This book is filled with joy, exuberance, and humor. On his first day of life, Hermes manages to trick a turtle into surrendering its shell and a ram into surrendering its horns, thereby inventing the lyre, music, and song! He also manages to steal his brother Apollo's precious cows, but later redeems himself by outwitting the giant brothers Otus and Ephialtes, who have kidnapped Mars. These adventures and more, all derived from classical mythology, are told with great humor as well as a twenty-first century sensibility by the colossally talented Mordicai Gerstein. The art in this graphic novel is truly spectacular, with 250 illustrations, executed by a master artist and filled with unique humor. A Bank Street Best Book of the Year
