We was playin' rummy over to Hatch's, and Hatch must of fell in a bed of four leaf clovers on his way home the night before, because he plays rummy like he does everything else; but this night I refer to you couldn't beat him, and besides him havin' all the luck my Missus played like she'd been bought off, so when we come to settle up we was plain seven and a half out. You know who paid it. So Hatch says: "They must be some game you can play." "No," I says, "not and beat you. I can run two blocks w'ile you're stoopin' over to start, but if we was runnin' a foot race between each other, and suppose I was leadin' by eighty yards, a flivver'd prob'ly come up and hit you in the back and bump you over the finishin' line ahead o' me." So Mrs. Hatch thinks I'm sore on account o' the seven-fifty, so she says: "It don't seem fair for us to have all the luck." "Sure it's fair!" I says. "If you didn't have the luck, what would you have?" "I know," she says; "but I don't never feel right winnin' money at cards." "I don't blame you," I says.

Gullible's Travels: From Diaper Rash to Kissing Frogs is a compilation of 30 life stories. A young girl, born to parents who were products of the Depression, Deanna grew up and experienced life during a simpler time and in a simpler place, Horton, Kansas, in the late 1930's, 1940's and 1950's. The title, Gullible's Travels, comes from the author's recognized gullibility as illustrated numerous times through her stories. Gullible's stories are amusing and sentimental in her journey through life. Some may even bring a tear to your eye. Like Stories of Old, each life story includes a moral, message, or lesson learned by Deanna as a result of her Travels. The subtitle for Book One, From Diaper Rash to Kissing Frogs, reflects Deanna's early life experiences from birth through her teen years. Book One is followed chronologically by three companion books-each reflecting approximately 20 years of the author's life.

How to have fun hating Trump Kitman describes the land of Gulliblesylvania as a democratic country ruled by 34.9 % of the people, "a minority better known as 'the base,' of whom a candidate said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and they would still vote for him." At first Kitman assumed that Trump's candidacy was a publicity stunt. After he realized it was serious, as a satirist he felt very lucky and began to keep a comical journal, modeled after A Journal of the Plague Year which Daniel Defoe described as "Observations of the most remarkable occurrence, which happened in London during the last great visitation in 1665"--which is not to compare the Trump administration to the bubonic plague, Kitman hastens to add. "For one thing, as our POTUS has been telling us, he's made America Great again--AND IT ONLY TOOK A YEAR AND A HALF!" Kitman adds, "And I have never before had such a good time observing and writing about the follies of our country." Gullibles Travels includes 32 "Trumponicles; the debate over the president's intellectual capacity; "That Russian Thing;" "Who is Agent Orange"; and a CODA that asks the question, "How Will It All End?" Impeachment? 25th Amendment sacking? Resignation? Or reelection?
