Copyrights page 150 Disclaimer Before you read any further, you should understand. I have dyslexia. It is a learning disability. I have no training in writing at all. Everything in this book, from cover to cover, is me. I am the writer, editor, cover designer, and I am in charge of sales. My stories come to me like little movies. That is the only point of view from which I can write. This style allows me to write. It is a style that is easy to follow. I sincerely thank you for reading my story, Dyslexia is a learning disability that affects about forty-five million people right here in the US, some 15% of the population, and millions more around the world. There is no cure for dyslexia. You only learn to live with it. Opening I had gone my whole life almost without telling anybody that I had dyslexia. For fear, I was the only one. For fear, I would be made fun of. Now, I know one out of every six people has some form of learning disability. It would be impossible for you not to know someone who has dyslexia. One out of every six people. With a story similar to mine. Understanding It is hard for people sometimes to understand exactly what my dyslexia is. Especially since it does not affect everybody in the same way. I am only going to speak about my dyslexia. I wanted to explain it to you. This comparison is the easiest way. If you have ever seen the movie Fifty Dates. With Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. In the movie, Drew's in an auto accident with injuries to the brain, and she loses her short-term memory. That is almost precisely what I have. I could meet you today. We can have lunch and a conversation. I will remember what we talked about. I will remember everything that we ordered. What the inside of the building looked like. What you were wearing. But I will not remember your name or even the date we met. I cannot remember any dates. I cannot remember names. For me, the letters and numbers all jump around on the page. It is the same thing when I am trying to write. I have to be very careful, especially on numbers. I just wanted you to understand what I am discussing in this book. I hope you enjoyed the read. Thank you, Author David F Anderson

A NATIONAL BOOK AWARD LONGLIST SELECTION In the Remixed Classics series, authors from marginalized backgrounds reinterpret classic works through their own cultural lens to subvert the overwhelming cishet, white, and male canon. This YA reimagining of The Great Gatsby centers trans love in a cast removed from its cishet white default, finally exploring those longing glances and wistful sighs between Nick and Jay. New York City, 1922. Nicolás Caraveo, a 17-year-old transgender boy from Wisconsin, has no interest in the city’s glamor. Going to New York is all about establishing himself as a young professional, which could set up his future—and his life as a man—and benefit his family. Nick rents a small house in West Egg from his 18-year-old cousin, Daisy Fabrega, who lives in fashionable East Egg near her wealthy fiancé, Tom—and Nick is shocked to find that his cousin now goes by Daisy Fay, has erased all signs of her Latine heritage, and now passes seamlessly as white. Nick’s neighbor in West Egg is a mysterious young man named Jay Gatsby, whose castle-like mansion is the stage for parties so extravagant that they both dazzle and terrify Nick. At one of these parties, Nick learns that the spectacle is all meant to impress a girl from Jay’s past—Daisy. And he learns something else: Jay is also transgender. As Nick is pulled deeper into the glittery culture of decadence, he spends more time with Jay, aiming to help his new friend reconnect with his lost love. But Nick's feelings grow more complicated when he finds himself falling hard for Jay's openness, idealism, and unfounded faith in the American Dream. Praise for Self-Made Boys: "Anna-Marie McLemore cracks the Gatsby story wide open, breathing fresh life into these familiar characters with wisdom, honesty, and real tenderness. An all-time favorite—I was completely transported." —Becky Albertalli, New York Times-bestselling author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda "Tenderly written and achingly romantic, Anna-Marie McLemore has crafted a romance for the ages. Their Latinx lens provides more nuance and depth to the classic story. With a breath of fresh life, Self-Made Boys shows us how queer love has flourished in quiet corners across history." —Aiden Thomas, New York Times-bestselling author of Cemetery Boys The Remixed Classics Series A Clash of Steel: A Treasure Island Remix by C.B. Robert Chilcoate was born in Laurel, Maryland, on May 21, 1962. He was born premature, and the doctor told his mother that he would not be able to walk or talk and that he would be deaf and blind. When he was in school, the school board thought that he was retarded. Robert overcame all of this and was diagnosed with dyslexia. He went to school depressed and could not sleep at night because he always worried about tests and did not know if he was smart enough to pass them. He thought that he was a complete failure. This is his life story of growing up with dyslexia. He is now learning more now than ever through a tutor that has been assigned by his employer. Robert wanted to bring his story forward so that people know how serious dyslexia is and that there is help for this disorder. Older people can obtain help through the state or county, and younger people through the school system.
