"'Highly recommended' by the Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society, this book offers a comprehensive, self-contained treatment of group rings. The subject involves the intersection of two essentially different disciplines, group theory and ring theory. The Bulletin of the American Mathematical Society hailed this treatment as 'a majestic account,' proclaiming it "encyclopedic and lucid." 1985 edition"--

This book gathers together selected contributions presented at the 3rd Moroccan Andalusian Meeting on Algebras and their Applications, held in Chefchaouen, Morocco, April 12-14, 2018, and which reflects the mathematical collaboration between south European and north African countries, mainly France, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal. The book is divided in three parts and features contributions from the following fields: algebraic and analytic methods in associative and non-associative structures; homological and categorical methods in algebra; and history of mathematics. Covering topics such as rings and algebras, representation theory, number theory, operator algebras, category theory, group theory and information theory, it opens up new avenues of study for graduate students and young researchers. The findings presented also appeal to anyone interested in the fields of algebra and mathematical analysis.

This book is devoted to the theory of group representations, a young and promising area of modern algebra. It provides a detailed exposition of several central topics in the field, leading to the most current advances and developments. Much of the included material has never been available in book form before. It is intended for a broad audience of researchers and graduate students, working in abstract algebra and its many applications.

The book describes developments on some well-known problems regarding the relationship between orders of finite groups and that of their automorphism groups. It is broadly divided into three parts: the first part offers an exposition of the fundamental exact sequence of Wells that relates automorphisms, derivations and cohomology of groups, along with some interesting applications of the sequence. The second part offers an account of important developments on a conjecture that a finite group has at least a prescribed number of automorphisms if the order of the group is sufficiently large. A non-abelian group of prime-power order is said to have divisibility property if its order divides that of its automorphism group. The final part of the book discusses the literature on divisibility property of groups culminating in the existence of groups without this property. Unifying various ideas developed over the years, this largely self-contained book includes results that are either proved or with complete references provided. It is aimed at researchers working in group theory, in particular, graduate students in algebra.
