SWEET PAIN is a remarkable story of adventure and human perseverance as experienced by Eero Sorila in the course of his travels through 180 countries. In this third edition of Sweet Pain Eero shares with us his adventures in 20 countries. Mr. Sorila also reveals his basic philosophy of travel, namely that willpower is more important than monetary power, that relationships are more important than comfortable accommodations, and that the experience of Providence is more than just sheer luck. The book is a page-turner since at the conclusion of almost every episode he leaves us with the question, “How can you top that?” or with the exclamation, “That’s incredible!” These gripping narratives of raw adventure are accompanied by 128 photos of nature and human interest. When your employer is a hundred years older than you are, you will spend much of your time playing nurse-maid. That was a complication Letitia didn't need, because Letitia's real job was to nudge their planet to a warmer orbit, a risky job that required her full concentration. Having the old fool declared incompetent would have solved the problem, but her employer was not incompetent, in fact she appeared to be growing more competent every day. More competent, perhaps, but making some strange decisions. She'd brought in an anti-social child as trainee, and she'd announced a major conference with a shrivelled misogynist as guest of honour. Strange because the employer hated conferences and she'd once threatened to murder the guest of honour. Something was up, but whatever the plan was, it wasn't being shared with her hard-working employees. Then there was the bizarre business of the ice yacht.

Most of us spend about one-third of our lives in bed'and that's just when we're sleeping. According to the National Sleep Foundation, between 50 and 70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders, and 40 million of us have chronic sleep problems. What most people don't realize is that the bed they sleep in can be the actual cause of their problems. Many popular mattresses are a chemical nightmare, constructed of polyurethane foam, which is made from a petrochemical base combined with a chemical potpourri of stabilizers, catalysts, surfactants, fire retardants, antimicrobial additives and colorants. These chemicals are associated with environmental problems as well as human health hazards such as chronic bronchitis, impaired lung function, breathlessness, nausea, vomiting and allergic reactions. Some are potential carcinogens and reproductive toxins. In Sleep Safe, you'll learn how beds may be one of the single-most overlooked causes of people's health problems in the world today. Author Walt Bader shows you how to shop for a safe and healthy organic mattress, and provides tips for eliminating toxins in all parts of your bedroom'from the walls to the floors to the closets. Whether you are interested in a cleaner environment or improved health for you and your family, Sleep Safe is essential reading for a good night's sleep. Book jacket.
