Travel along with Bill, Bob, Gracie and B.J. as they walk through the trials and tribulations of this life. Share in their joy as they pass from the darkness into the light. In most books you see yourself as the character, in Gracies Pond you may see yourself. You may be going through the situation one of the characters are and follow them to your solution. To write a story well, it should be experienced. Gracies Pond is based on the authors life. The trip B.J. takes at the age of fourteen searching for love, for family, follows the exact route taken by the author many times. Gracies Pond is a book for all ages, both adults and children alike. One that parents will pass to their teenage children or visa versa. I wish you joy and hope.

Gracie Jones was little more than a child when the Earth was invaded, but by the time she is seventeen, Gracie turns the tide in the war against the Alluthans – she just has to give up everything and everyone that she knows to do it. When she wakes, she is on an undeveloped moon in a distant galaxy, and no one is coming for her. Kordon Jefe, Commander of the Confederation of Planets, is absolutely astounded when he finds Gracie Jones, the Mother of Freedom, exactly the same as she was when she disappeared hundreds of years ago! Mysteries surround this legend out of time who fights and behaves unlike anyone Kordon has ever encountered before, and he can’t help being drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Since learning that her old life is just…gone, Kordon seems to be the only one who can bring Gracie back from the brink of despair – until the moment Gracie discovers she is needed again when her old enemy resurfaces, stronger than ever. This time it is not just Earth in jeopardy, but the Confederation itself! Gracie may be just the secret weapon they need to win, but this battle will certainly not be easy, and Gracie has already lost so much…. A NY Times and USA Today bestselling author, the internationally acclaimed S.E. Smith presents a new story with her signature humor and unpredictable twists! Exciting adventure, hot romance, and iconic characters have won her a legion of fans. Over TWO MILLION books sold!

"The Invention of Martial Arts examines the media history of what we now call 'martial arts' and argues that martial arts is a cultural construction that was born in film, TV and other media. It argues that 'martial arts' exploded into popular consciousness entirely thanks to the work of media. Of course, the book does not deny the existence of real, material histories and non-media dimensions in martial arts practices. But it thoroughly recasts the status of such histories, combining recent myth-busting findings in historical martial arts research with important insights into the discontinuous character of history, the widespread 'invention of tradition', the orientalism and imagined geographies that animate many ideas about history, and the frequent manipulation of history for reasons of status, cultural capital, private or public power, politics, and/or financial gain. In doing so, The Invention of Martial Arts argues for the primacy of media representation as key player in the emergence and spread of martial arts. This argument overturns the dominant belief that 'real practices' are primary, while representations are secondary. The book makes its case via historical analysis of the British media history of such Eastern and Western martial arts as Bartitsu, jujutsu, judo, karate, tai chi and MMA across a range of media, from newspapers, comics and books to cartoon, film and TV series, as well as television adverts and music videos, focusing on key but often overlooked texts such as adverts for 'Hai Karate', the 1970s disco hit 'Kung Fu Fighting', and many other mainstream and marginal media texts"--
